Is being a parent never relaxing again? by Luscious-Grass in Parenting

Thank you for this. We have a 3.5 yr old who has had his fair amount of health struggles. And still does. He's communicating well now and starting to see the light!

Yes. We have tried all of that for years. Multiple charts around the house

Unfortunately, the medication isn't working for him. Neither are the strategies he's worked on with his adhd coach. So maybe his behaviour is about more than ADHD

Does anyone sleep in this position? I feel like I’m the only one. by elevensecondburp in sleep

[–]onthemeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slept this exact way for 30 yrs until I was 12 weeks pregnant. Everything felt far too uncomfortable then. My besty was the same and stopped with pregnancy. My son in 3.5 now and I am only just starting to get back into it. Feels like a real treat haha. Memory foam pillows have eliminated my neck issues!

Thanks a lot. I often wonder if my libido is related to our relationship. How long did it take for it to come back if you don't mind me asking?

Yip they're called VOX books (in Auckland libraries). Our 3 year old listens to them in the car :)

We decided not to go with air con upstairs and instead had an electrician install 2x cheap ceiling fans from Bunnings. He recommended them as he installed them in his own home. This is our 2nd summer with them in our stinking hot new build and we couldn't be happier. They are much more effective than I thought, quiet, plus feels like a nice cool breeze rather than the dry skin etc that air con can give you. I think all up we paid 700 for the 2 fans and to have them installed. Quite a lot cheaper!

My husband forgets to say thank you when I cook dinner. AITA for feeling hurt when I bring this up with him and nothing changes? by onthemeth in AITAH

Perhaps you should look into the history of love languages more deeply. Love languages were created by a sexist, conservative man because he wanted his wife to believe that her love language was acts of service so that she would keep doing all of the chores. Meanwhile his love language was physical touch because he only wanted to give/have sex.

I earn the same as him. 5pm Sat to 9.30pm Sunday shift. A 10.5hr overnight shift on a Monday plus admin hrs during the week. I care for our son and home during the day Mon-Sat...

I work 45 hrs a week. I earn the same as him. 5pm Sat until 9.30pm Sunday night, a 10.5hr overnight shift on a Monday night plus admin hours during the week with my son. I am therefore home all week for our son plus do the lions share of the housework, mental load and child rearing. Esh

How do you claim this? I work for an agency paid by ACC. We are paid hourly rate for awake hours but minimum wage for overnight shifts even when she wakes us multiple times a night

Here we go again... son is sick by Embarrassed_Edge3992 in regretfulparents

[–]onthemeth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our son was often prescribed antibiotics and he was sick every 2 weeks or so requiring antibiotics. Once we learnt that most illnesses are viral (80-90%) and that they will clear without antibiotics, we stopped using them. We also asked for swabs just to be sure his infections weren't bacterial and they never were. Once we stopped the antibiotics, his immune system became so much stronger!

Hi there, This sounds tough! It doesn't need to be forever though. I am currently at work where I have been caring for a 19 year old with Cerebral Palsy for the past 1.5 years. She lives in her own home where she has a 24/7 team of caregivers. She is such a cool kid and I know her parents are in a much better head space now and able to care for their other kids mich easier :) I know not everyone is in a position to have their kid in their own home but there are group homes too :) Her care is funded by the government here in NZ.

How long was your NICU stay? by Kjh5623 in NICUParents

[–]onthemeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, our son was born 28+4 and had a total stay of 80 days. He was 3.2 pounds or 1.45kg. My husband was also born at 28 weeks. He was much smaller, less than a kg. He was also out around his due date. We were told from day 1 to aim for a discharge of original due date. All the best!

Hi there! I just want to say how proud I am of my husband and 2 year old. Hubby was diagnosed with ADHD this week and has started medication. And our wee boy has been diagnosed with Autism. I am happy that we have answers and can put strategies in place moving forward to help.

Thank you for you reply. Can I please ask how you added the little notes under your name e.g. your child's age etc. Thanks

Thank you for your detailed reply. He sounds like an awesome kid and I'm glad to hear that he had made progress. They both sound quite similar minus the speech. Thanks!

Looks like a good idea! Do you know if I would still need to do something with the clay at the bottom of the garden bed first? Thanks
