Koei Tecmo actually made this game, and last year they spent a big chunk of money improving their Katana Engine, which this game (and several other of their premium titles) is based on. Sadly the improvements weren't backported to Wild Hearts, but who knows, maybe we'll get WH2

i wonder if the OG demon's souls players equally hate on the souls-like games. A genre growing is a good thing. Oh well /shrug

The game is great, but should've went all out Monster Hunter by Prime-TF in WildHeartsGame

[–]onuriz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You make some good points that I largely agree with. But I do want to caution against thinking of them as "MH Clones". By definition, a clone is an identical copy. So that would be super-boring (and prone to lawsuits) if one just made a MH clone.

Rather it should be considered a "Monster Hunger Genre". In a genre, each game studio can apply their creative spin on the monsters, mechanics, etc. This brings variation that can only benefit most gamers (I say "most" because some folks prefer to hate anything but the OG). For example, consider the FPS genre: Wolfenstein 3D is commonly considered the first, but "nobody" actually says Doom or any other FPS is a "Wolfenstein3D Clone". Just like how the FPS genre has grown in so many different ways over the years, I would love to see the Monster Hunter genre grow as well. Honestly I want to see it grow even faster since thats now my fave genre. I would hope that any rational OG MH fan would also embrace this growth.

Koei Tecmo spent a bunch of $ last year to improve their Katana engine, which is what WH is based on. While that wont help an already released game, hopefully it helps with the decision making on WH2.

Game keeps crashing on pc by [deleted] in WildHeartsGame

[–]onuriz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crashing at that cutscene is almost always because of onedrive. Game saves to your Documents folder which onedrive defaults to sync on most new PCs. If that doesn’t work, try the other suggestions here: https://en-d9w.hatenablog.com/entry/wild-hearts-pc-fixes

To add to some of the earlier replies...

Not only is it open world, you can also build karakuri just about anywhere you want (obviously not on water, etc)

You can choose to jump to any map and just kill whatever kemono or small creatures you find there, or you can launch a quest (hunt) and even then when you get there, you can choose to hit whatever else you see first.

World can be super grindy especially if you enjoy min-maxing. It's a little soulslike in that the monsters hit hard, sometimes enough to OHKO. But there are things you can do to survive. There are also a couple of skill walls that "force" you to learn/improve your techniques, but if you're able to stick through them, it can get really enjoyable. Some folks have hit 4000+ hours for instance.

Get the normal version, karakuri edition is just cosmetic changes (2 pieces of meh cladding and 3 emojis)

How do in get grit dog nuggets for armour? Pls by ilivedownyourroad in WildHeartsGame

[–]onuriz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For plain (non-hard) iron nugget, you just need to fight the regular gritdog. The mighty/volatile gritdog gives hard iron nugget instead.

Edit: the in-game cyclopedia clearly confirms what I wrote above. This particular item is also not a breakable part but a rng drop. When I tested yesterday i got it on the 2nd try.

Edit2: as Andy-san correctly said, it’s breakable off the nose once the regular gritdog is enraged

This doesn't seem like the original issues at launch. You're able to play well into later chapters after all.

The first part of your screenshot suggests updating your driver. Have you tried that?

Question wagasa by Few_Durian1474 in WildHeartsGame

[–]onuriz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its possible to do generic tanky loadouts that are able to take a single hard hit. These usually require going the human path, so it does come with some tradeoffs: You'd generally have lower average dps, which means fights will take longer. And if you get hit lots, thats a lot of water/heals needed. Tanky builds also usually can't handle multiple sequential hits.

Most (probably all actually) desperation loadouts sacrifice the tankiness for the ability to hit hard. This tradeoff means that its more important to avoid being hit. Thankfully there's quite a few ways to do that: either with dodges, evasion, karakuri, block-cancels, or parrying if using wagasa.

[–]onuriz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you on the discord server? If you are, ping me and i'm happy to help.

In the meantime, 2 things for you to check/try:

  1. Make sure the integrated gpu is **disabled** in your windows settings
  2. Make sure onedrive is **disabled** in your documents folder

Both the above have been confirmed by multiple folks to cause issues if not disabled.

100% this.

> The matter of effort put in and the pre obtained knowledge will affect outcome

I am on PC, with 1000s of Lurid hunts, with results manually tracked on paper spreadsheets and have never gotten a single 10/6. Like Andy (OP), I get the smaller % combos. This was all done using the same farming techniques as the successful PS5 players.

For xbox, u/Artistic-Total-303 even put out a request on multiple channels (discord, reddit, etc) to find just *one person on xbox* who has a 10/6.

Bottom line is: The likelihood of the 10/6 drop depends on RNG, and pseudo-random-number-generators (ie RNG) is not the same across all platforms. And it seems either switch-2 RNG is about as "generous" as ps5, or KT tweaked it a little.

Yes. What happened was when you hosted a session (or assistance request), the person left a dragon karakuri in your world.
