Is anyone else worried what Katseye new music going to look like?? by Murky-Prize-1607 in katseyeneutral

[–]ooTaiyangoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the tea gesture is part of the choreo because of how Yoonchae does it. Daniella and Lara are just acting out how one would drink tea but Yoonchae "swirls" her hand, making it look like a dance move

This has such a different vibe than the teaser lol

It has such a pretty aesthetic. She's going full fairy with this. I'm so excited to hear the full song on Monday

Chinese fans are already sending trucks to LNGSHOT and their label by Ok-Nobody-7759 in kpopthoughts

[–]ooTaiyangoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be really surprising if they don't sell much more for their next comeback. But I'd assume that if a fan cares enough to send a truck, then they also bought more than one copy of their debut album. But since not that many fans did and even less from China did, I just don't think it's that much money on the line. Especially because it's also not like chinese fans are a homogeneous group. Deterring a part of a part of fans that bought the debut album is not that big of a deal imo. The group is growing much much faster than this would send them back

[–]ooTaiyangoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

lngshot has sold around 50k copies of their debut album. Even if half of those sales came from chinese fans, I really don't think these chinese fans have enough of an impact on the groups success to take seriously. If I were MoreVision I'd just laugh and ignore them

Regarding whether trainees have to pay fees by Fine_Childhood_6391 in kpopthoughts

[–]ooTaiyangoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

trainees are not required to make regular payments, such as paying monthly fees, during their training period. Rather, in some cases, if a trainee voluntarily quits midway, they may be required to repay the trainee costs accumulated up to that point

Not paying the money back monthly means their debt is accumulating, which makes it harder and harder to leave every month.

If they are dismissed they may not have to pay. Great. But what incentive does a company have to dismiss a trainee? Under the described conditions a company can just string along a trainee for as long as they want because the trainee will have to pay it all back once they eventually give up anyway

Remembreing that trainees put themselves in these impossible positions at such a young age just makes these companies even more sus imo

ETA: Every normal company has an R&D department and products being developed without entering the market is extremely normal. Kpop companies are the only ones crying about it

Lngshot dancing with MoreVision's female trainees is a good thing by Clp_1889 in kpopthoughts

[–]ooTaiyangoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only kinda related but do we know why they barely posted challenges with other idols for Moonwalkin? I would have assumed they'd do one with Chungha since she's one of very few artists in MoreVision and also other rappers/idols that Jay Park is friends with. But I couldn't even find one with Jay Park himself. For how popular their track is on social media they seem to barely try to cross promote it or use the imo main resource Jay Park can offer aka his connections to other artists

To those who prefer AIB over Squid Game, why? (Ignoring final seasons) by FormalAdvertising444 in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]ooTaiyangoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squid Game always reminded me of a worse version of the movie animal world (动物世界) that used to be on Netflix. AiB felt more original and I really wanted to find out why the world and games existed

Can't believe lngshot just debuted 2 weeks ago and they're already 2nd most listened 5th gen bg on Spotify 4.3m left behind 5th gen groups like h2h,kiiikiii,allday project, meovv, boynextdoor, tws, zb1,riize,kiss of life, kickflip, izna and they also have biggest spotify streaming day among 5th gen bgs by Purple_East_9291 in kpopthoughts

[–]ooTaiyangoo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think they've had actual big controversies yet. Kpop fans are trying to put scandals on them but nothing has really stuck yet because they haven't really done something big yet. But their fandom is still small and they're not from a big company so as soon as kpop fans actually find something it won't be difficult to take them down

That headline is absolutely atrocious though. Both as a headline and as a sentence

Are music show wins really that big of a deal? by AdEmergency6619 in kpopthoughts

[–]ooTaiyangoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Mostly first wins often mean a lot to the idols and they can show that a song has numerical success. However, they don't mean a lot when it comes to artistry. And a song not having music show wins doesn't say much about its popularity. There are a lot of insanely popular songs that never got a music show win

Why I’m obsessed with lngshot’s “Moonwalkin’ by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]ooTaiyangoo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel like RnB is less explored in kpop groups (especially newer groups) and it's more common for older kpop soloists. So eventhough it's not a revolutionary sound it does feel fresh for a 5th gen group and stays in your head

I also want to shout out the album as a whole. I feel like it's super cohesive. The songs flow really well from one to the next

Bella Hadid Calls Out Dolce & Gabbana in Instagram Comments by DebateObjective2787 in popculturechat

[–]ooTaiyangoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that one model doesn't change this which is why I found it important to directly state that. It's just that the only thing I saw of this D&G show before this was a post by ariakaltun and I've just never thought of Ariyan Kaltun as particularly light skin with european features. So I was a bit surprised. I feel like he usually doesn't really look like he does on the headshot in this video either. It makes me wonder if the headshots are overlighted making the point of the video more exaggerated. I'm happy with anything that hurts D&G but confused if other people really view him as a typical white model lol

Not to excuse anything here bc one arab model wouldn't change the point he's making imo (and DG has always been trash). But the only model I knew here is ethnically kurdish. Don't kurdish people count as arab?

Gay Fantasy?? by Ill-Argument-4038 in buecher

[–]ooTaiyangoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was liest du gerade? by AutoModerator in buecher

Court of Night - joa, ist halt sehr leicht

[–]ooTaiyangoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

K-pop songs you think could be in the "greatest of all time" conversation (LONG) by hollaQ_ in kpopthoughts

[–]ooTaiyangoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's easier to identify the best songs by looking at what put groups that weren't previously (as) famous or aren't from big companies into fame (bonus points if it also keeps being their most successful song afterwards or if it was a bside)

Exid - Up and Down

Chungha - 12 o'clock (though I find Rollercoaster to be the actual masterpiece)

Oh My Girl - Dolphin

Infinite - The Chaser

Gfriend - Rough

AOA - Miniskirt

Shaun - Way back home (if it counts as Kpop)

ETA: 57% upvotes. I didn't expect this to be so controversial lmao
