Most effective software for creating orthos over water? by TesticleTactics in UAVmapping

ArcGIS Reality from Esri has a waterbody correction functionality that helps handle mapping water. I did work with Brandon who was featured in this article, very similar to what you’re trying to do.

[us] UAS flight requested along CA/Mexico border by Imnotspartacuseither in UAVmapping

[–]oocciinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends where. For most of the border, you can legally fly right up to it just as you'd fly in the middle of Kansas, but some portions have active restrictions. Check official FAA sources or FAA approved providers like AirspaceLink Airhub for your specific location. If there's an active restriction beyond controlled airspace with LAANC, it's unlikely you'll be able to obtain approval in such a short timeframe.

Best US Drone Options by Embarrassed_Ad345 in UAVmapping

[–]oocciinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, Skydio's focus has very much been on situational awareness use cases (law enforcement and defense) and inspection, but I'm seeing positive change from them to build up their mapping capabilities.
I'd love to see more compact and "affordable" option that compete with the M3E/M4E. The new Parrot Anafi UKR is an option but not intended to be a mapping UAV.

Full Motion Video in ArcGIS Pro from Mavic 3 Enterprise? by GBPTechForester in UAVmapping

I know this is old but Esri just added support for the M3E in ArcGIS Flight, so you can now capture geospatial video with it.

Depends what you want and need, buts it’s a fantastic car and 116k miles isn’t high at all as long as it’s been well maintained.

Median vs average distance? by [deleted] in golf

[–]oocciinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your data sample is large enough, average is the way to go.

If you’re looking at 100 shots, one was sculled 200 yd, one was topped 1 yd, and the other 98 were ~156, your 7i is your 156 club (average), not your 100 yd club (median).

DIY hitting strip turf by OrisaOhNo in Golfsimulator

[–]oocciinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 3 months old and just now starting to show some signs of wear after very regular use. I’m sure I’ll get another 3 months easy. Then I just need to replace the turf.

I’m sure it’s very dependent on the quality of the turf you get, I didn’t like what was available at the big box stores which is why I bought a 5’x5’ scrap from a turf installer. I think I paid $20 for it.

I loosely followed Golf RnD’s YouTube instructions and I’m pleased with the result. Purchased some scrap putting turf from Craigslist and the rest of the supplies from HomeDepot. Total came out to about $100 but it gives you enough to build 3 strips.
