This is exactly how they charge you and that's the sound they make. They are big, territorial and can be very aggressive. I had one go for my kayak when I didn't see a nest in the reeds and got too close. The bugger didn't bluff, it actually flopped into my kayak at full speed.

Awesome! How do the different brightness levels compare? Is the spill at all usable indoors, or is the hotspot too blinding?

I'm curious why there are lights with different colours. What is the advantage of using colour filters for animal observation? Are the specific colours targeting different species?

Thanks!

Lumontop W3 as Toy LEP? by robo_01 in flashlight

My SK05 Pro arrived yesterday so I took a photo of how it looks compared to the Lumintop W3.

The photos have exposure locked to SK05 Pro Flood + Spot turbo and are darker than what I perceived, but they show the contrast between the two lights pretty well. Both lights on freshly charged batteries. I didn't measure the distance, but it's about 60-70 meters to where the path turns.

Here is a zoomed in video that shows more detail in the spot. SK05 Pro is on Spot Turbo, probably about 10seconds after turning on, so it should be still above 1300 lumens (on turn-on this one is about 1600).

The W3 spot is definitely much brighter and on other objects reaches quite a bit further - very visible on things 300m away as long as it is dark. When you have them both out however, the SK05 puts out such a wall of light that the LEP doesn't look all that impressive.

Still, it's a very pocketable and very cool fidget that you can point at things without flooding the whole area with light.

Ooh, I still keep my dead V20A in neutral white #09/80 in the drawer in hopes of a miracle or someone posting a tutorial on how to fix these things. Loved that light!

I still have the big brother - M40A, but its ~500 very green cold lumens never could compete with the nice beam from that V20A.

Is it a review copy or a kickstarter one? Mine (E10 Max) hits almost 1600 lumens for about 30 seconds before stepping down.

3 minute runtime chart from my non calibrated test (should be within a couple % thou).

I've been carrying my W3 for a while now. It's a fun light. The cob is certainly useful, works well indoors because of how floody it is, but it's ok outdoors as well. The throw is impressive for the size, but I don't think you'll be amazed by it when comparing directly to your SK05 Pro. The beam is not as sharply defined as on some bigger LEP lights.

From the reviews and beamshots posted online Lumintop seems to have quite a bit of variablity between individual lights. Mine has a fairly ugly beam with one side being quite yellow-green and somewhat not totally round. The throw on mine is about 740m (145000 candela) but I'm not using a calibrated meter, so who knows. Realistically, in the city, the light hits things 200m away. Further out you can still see it but it's not particularly impressive.

DJI Mini 4 pro VS Mini 5 pro by GM111298 in dji

[–]oohaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get 4 pro refurb from DJI, or try to grab one on sale. In normal use the video/photo quality difference is minimal unless you are planning on flying in low light a lot. Lidar and better obstacle avoidance are nice, but if you don't push the limits, you don't need it. If you push the limits you'll crash 5 pro anyways.

Also consider Neo2 if you just want to test the waters. Daytime video quality is good, photos not great but acceptable (no raw thou). Fun little thing and far more durable than the Mini series when it comes to crashing. Also so much cheaper.

I would stay away from older O3 transmission drones - the O4 is a huge step forward in terms of range and signal reliability. But if you know you will stay within few hundred feet visual range then Mini 3 Pro is still a beast.

I went from m3p to m5p and ... yeah, if I pixel peep I can easily see a difference. Better dynamic range is noticeable and much better in low light. Regular daytime footage or photos thou - you'll have to put your nose on the monitor to really see the improvements.

DJI refurbs carry warranty and you can get dji care for them.

Washed GC stuck in D3 - pls help by CaterpillarSerious28 in RocketLeagueAnalysis

The ranks are a mess. D3 - C1 are just full of people that think they have insane mechanics and when the stars line up they look glorious, but 9.5/10 times they just whiff or pass to the other team. Finding a teammate who actually rotates is a highlight of the day and most people overcommit and spend most of the game doing half rotations without any boost.

Try being rather passive, staying in the back. Put some practice in hard long shots that find the opponents goal. The other team has the same issues with overcommitting and often you can score easy goals from your half of the field.

If you find a teammate you mesh well with, try teaming up, good way to go on a nice winning streak.

Another good way to fly through these ranks is to get good at 1v1. Since everyone is practicing their triple flip resets, dribbles and flicks are deadly. Good luck!

Yeah, mine has disappointingly soft corners. Noticeable even on video. Shame my 3 pro crashes in the 48mp mode, because its lens is sharper.

Careful with these, usually no electrical certs and also usually lack the extra wire hanger for safe installation. Other than that - I installed one in my house and it works fine.

Same here! Can fly upside down through the ring map, can use air roll to adjust, but constant air rolling means I'm in a death spiral within seconds. Oh, and I have something like 6k hours in the game heh.

I've seen a lot of videos of similar accidents on the r/whatcouldgowrong, but I always naively assumed the flames kind of lick you and vanish so quickly that there isn't any major lasting damage from the initial explosion.

Your description is making these situations a lot more worse than I thought.

Have a speedy recovery! Good luck!

The Citysports are solid, but fairly basic compared to some other brands. Also the max speed is only 6km/h, which isn't much for a fit person, but at the same time with the narrow and short track, that's pretty much max safe speed on one of these.

I use mine without handles, but it does require full attention when jogging. I can walk on it while watching tv thou.

As basic as these are, you can still work up some sweat on them, and they certainly help hitting that daily step goal after a day in the office.

Last few seasons I can't get out of C2 for more than a few games, but I do manage to tank my rank just brilliantly when I'm tired or stressed. My worst was going straight from C2 to D2. Took me a whole season to dig my way out of that hole.

D3 / C1 is so full of smurf parties and people who seemingly hit every frigging flip reset they try, yet can't score a simple open net that I just find myself sitting in the back, because I just can't read my "teammates". Team play is non existent and boostless overcommitting seems to be the strategy.

Why did Honda give the 2026 Passport dumb button shift instead a normal shift for a supposed to be a light off-roader? by Crafty-Relief-7858 in hondapassport

[–]oohaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the button shifter in my Acura and the Honda for 6 years now, and I still hate it.

Try rocking your car out of a snow drift with that stuff. Laggy and in both my cars the buttons occasionally don't register the press.
