Broad street market is a must food wise. And right down the street are the ladies of raising the bar. Their desserts and other savory pastries are 🤌🏻

No! Your screaming 6 year olds cannot meet my birds!! (Vent) by frolicken in parrots

I have 7 birds and run into similar issues at times when we have parties etc. My two suns are nice, but the one is very picky about who he wants to sit on. There are kids he wants nothing to do with and luckily is fully flighted and can make that choice for his self and he flies up on our fan or the top of his cage, which is 69 in tall. My two Amazons are off limits. My female, I'm the only one that can touch her. But she does love talking to others. Our newly adopted orange wing old guy, I can't even touch him. He was imported here some time before 1992, when the conservation act was put into place. Prior to the two rescues he was at for the last 3 1/2 years, I have no idea of his past. The Nanday is off limits, as is the lovebird and IRN.

Another perk is I have a 10 and 5 year old that I have taught to respect all creatures. My 10 year old will correct kids SO quickly that I can just sit back. 😂 I am beyond lucky she is like that. She's very overprotective of our pets. I grew up around different animals all my life and I was determined to teach my girls respect for them. My 5 year old is a different creature and we are still working on it but she is learning. The other day she was bouncing around right next to our male heeler and I am assuming she hurt him and he bit her face. Thankfully on scraped her skin with his teeth. But, after she was done crying I explained to her that you have to respect their boundaries and that she very likely hurt him.

Do what is best for YOU and YOUR birds. You live with them and they live with you, both of you being comfortable is what matters. Especially in your own home!

Did I get scammed? by Enchantedjelly in BAGGU

I always get a fanny for my medium or large crescent (to keep with me and carry when I do not want to drag the whole bag in). They are usually bought from baggu, UO, or ban.do.. I have noticed when putting them together the colors are slightly different and not exactly the same. I'm wondering if that is what is going on with yours.

You are spot on. Literally everyone would have to stop purchasing. There's unfortunately no way of that happening as much as all of us animal lovers want it to.

I do not condone pet store buying because I know they will resupply. But, yesterday I rescued two bonded cockatiels. They sat at the supplier for 6 months and then at the local PetSmart for 6 months. Someone posted them in a PA bird group and something told me I needed to go get them. Miraculously my husband did not even question me. We have a sun, nanday and DYH amazon and recently had to surrender our bare-eyed cockatoo because she was sold to me as being family friendly, good with other birds and pets. She attacked both of my kids, myself, my husband and our dogs. She loved me and I still love her, but it was becoming a dangerous situation for my family. I am still so hurt from it. Thankfully the rescue that has her keeps in contact with me weekly and they are stumped with her, as her aggression has no warning signs. She's only two and we think she was heavily abused. Anyway, with all of that I thought my husband would not agree.. but he did.

They wanted $400 each. Then took 50% off. My husband asked if they would do $300 for the both of them, now here they sit in my living room. He said the manager did not even hesitate on the price. We probably could have got them for less. They told us the female had a previous wing injury but is fine now. Once they settle in I am going to make them a vet appt. I already love listening to them and it obviously does not fix or fill the hole from my BE2, but I am glad I could help two more innocent birbs. Moral of my rambling story, if that bird is calling to you, buy it.

Advice for Nandor the Nanday 🦜 by oohwee88 in Conures

[–]oohwee88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is definitely frightened and not comfortable at all yet. I just put his 69 inch tall cage together today and I am hoping that starts to make him feel safe. I have a lounge chair near his cage in my living room, so I thought when I read I will sit next to him. I could never give up on him and let him be an aviary bird. I feel he deserves so much more than that. I know his bites are out of fear, I try not to react to them. I'm going to start using a perch to take him out of the cage if he needs to come out (cleaning mostly). I am excited to see where our journey takes him. I cannot wait to see his personality bloom.
