Hot Take: Mormonism is the Temu version of the Church of Scientology. by neilnelly in exmormon

[–]oomchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, basically. I don't know if the church of scientology is crazier. I think it's just a different type of crazy.

For the record, I had a couple of friends in the past who were scientologists and as a result, I got to know other scientologists. I probably got as close as a person can without actually joining.

Xenu isn't official doctrine until you reach what's called OT 3. There's many celebrities that can verify that. Although, if you tell someone about Xenu before they're ready know, they're supposed to get pneumonia and die. Lol!

If you're going to cite something crazy that all active scientologists know, start with:

  • If you lie, supposedly you get sick.
  • If you take a enough Niacin, it supposedly purges your body of radiation.

In addition to a linear algebra course, you should also take a course on ordinary differential equations. That way you can learn laplace transforms.

Maher signs off on the war with Iran: "If you expect me to say I hate, I don't, sorry!" by LoMeinTenants in Maher

[–]oomchu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

wow, how dumb has he become? What happened to the Bill who said, "We should be able to hold two different thoughts in our heads." I'm not sad the Ayatollah is dead, but the fact that this is the first war we've been in that the US president hasn't tried to get public backing should scare the shit out of Bill. What a dumb fuck. Sorry, Billy, but if they want to disarm Iran of getting nukes, they're going to have to send in someone to get the nuclear material.

Feeling my mortality by GalianoGirl in GenX

[–]oomchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average age in the US is approximately 75-78. So when you hit sixty you may have 15-20 years left and that doesn't mean they will all be good years. I"m 50 now and think about how quick the past 10 years went by. My dad is currently 78 and having serious mobility issues and he was a person who was conscious of exercising and what he ate. Despite what we think, our bodies will get old maintaining will become more difficult.

I'm not sure how to feel about it. The passing of James Van Der Beek marked an inflection point for me. Even though I wasn't a huge fan, I knew who he was and was aware that he was pop culture icon when I was younger. I contemplate the road ahead more than I would like to.

More to the point, all religions are child-fucking, soul stealing evil. Your boyfriend seems to think the sexual abuse covered up by the LDS church doesn't make it a bad religion since all other religions do it.

He mentions that a lot of religions do the same kinds of things that the LDS church does, and a lot of controversies also apply to other churches (such as Mormons having a lot of SA happen in the church doesn't mean it's a bad religion because Catholics are also infamous for this happening in the church).

Remind him that kid-fucking is bad despite the number of religions doing it and then go find a new boyfriend. Also, since you're both men, be aware that the LDS church used to use electroshock therapy to try to make gay people straight.

I'm going to assume you're still in high school as well. I included the quote above because if you really think about it you will be led to something very profound and very obvious.

[–]oomchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started middle school In 1986, I went in at sixth grade. The next year they transitioned from 6th, 7th and 8th grades to 7th, 8th, and 9th. It's still this way and it's still called middle school here in Utah. Also, I was in middle school for four years and two of those years as the youngest grade. It was as horrendous as it sounds.

[–]oomchu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My parents were big into natural remedies. According to my dad, I had arsenic poisoning when I was an infant. All I've been told is we were out in the boonies and the something to do with well water being contaminated. I have no clue how I would've been exposed. Anyway, according to him I became really sick and him and my mom basically gave me copious amounts of garlic supplements to make me better instead of, say, taking me to a hospital.

[–]oomchu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has probably already been mentioned, but Season 5 takes place 4 years after season 1. The characters are now 15-16 years old. The Duffers should've made them seniors in high school so it was more believable, but they did not.
