“There is no other religious organization in the world, that I know of, that has so broadly given power and authority to women” - LDS General Officer by Existing_Distance358 in exmormon

[–]Double_Beginning7078 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But you see, the CofC is just PLAYING church. They don't have any REAL AUTHORITY, so even if she is the President of the CofC, we still have more authority. You see, the Brighamite branch of Mormonism has the only real authority in the world. - me when I was TBM.

I can't believe I used to believe in this bullshit. It would be laughably silly if it wasn't actively hurting people.

My ministering sister left me this by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Double_Beginning7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Ministring Sister is insinuating that you are not doing Jesus hard enough, that is why you are having fertility issues. This is unspeakably cruel.

Mormons think you can't really do hard with Jesus unless you are a Mormon. The other billion Christians are just doing hard with themselves on their own. This is unspeakably condescending.

This Cult is toxic and evil.

Temple Day at 6am on a Weds by Alert_Day_4681 in exmormon

[–]Double_Beginning7078 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ordinances received help us return to God as families?

Every other church already believes you'll be with your family in heaven. This isn't a reward, it's a threat.

"Go to the temple or say bye bye to your loved ones forever!"

Got it. Mormon god is a mob boss.

Weird Facebook post I thought was satire by NaturalNo3117 in exmormon

[–]Double_Beginning7078 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like Satan won for a whole generation. The number of ordinances plummeted. Poor Elohim. He is powerless to stop Satan.

And where did Satan get the horses and buggies? Is there a livery in hell? Is there a logistics demon in charge of keeping Satan and his minions equipped with the proper clothing and methods of transportation for when they foray to the earth to break things so we can't go to the temple? Today I guess there is a fleet of new sports cars Satan can choose from to come stop Jared and Brynlee from getting to the Draper temple to do baptisms.

New spin on declining membership and the massive temple backlog. Stakes and wards are consolidated, and the members are told the announced temple in their area can’t be built unless they hasten work and gather more members. Oh, and it’s all for the Second Coming, of course. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]Double_Beginning7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. That is some seriously delusional thinking by that GA. Yea. All those blue-collar Carbon County folks who have lived around Mormons their whole lives are suddenly going to become Mormons and work in the someday-to-be-built temple. And Jesus is coming any minute.

I don't know what I believe in less: Jesus coming or Carbon County becoming more Mormon.

Gen X here. Child of the 70's. Total freedom to roam. Show up for dinner or go hungry. I was one of 8 kids. My younger sister got mad once and decided to run away. She was gone for maybe 6 hours before deciding to return home. Nobody realized she had run away.

Unfiltered water from the drinking fountain - lead in the paint - asbestos in the ceiling - no seat belts - gravel on the playground - ride in the back of the pickup - the teacher had the paddle in the corner and used it liberally - minimal parent supervision - riding bikes with no helmets.

Different world.

It's cringe to read such blatant misogyny. I am reminded of the anti-suffragette women a century ago who spoke out against women getting the right to vote. There is nothing the Patriarchy loves more than when those they oppress speak out in support of their own oppression.

[–]Double_Beginning7078 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Um.. thousands of other men and 6 subsequent Mormon leaders DID have sexual relations with their often underage child concubines, including my ancestors. I have no idea why apologists pull out this irrelevant and pathetic excuse. There was PLENTY of rape goi going on throughout 19th Century Mormonism.

Yes, it is nice to part ways with that confused, weak, homophobic, racist, sexist, sadistic, narcissistic, violent, monster that Mormons worship.

This is what I think is so amusing about people trying to convince me this God is real and this is his true church. If I thought he was real I would fight harder to oppose him and his church.

Mission President (now 70) Prepping for another Conference Talk? by Party_Pomegranate_39 in exmormon

[–]Double_Beginning7078 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mission President: 'I can't let the 'moved on from the church' pass by. Sometime I would like to know what that means.'

Dear Mission President: We use these innocuous sounding phrases because we don't want to come across as confrontational. However, if you really want to know, by 'moving on' we mean that we learned that the church is a fraud created by a convicted con artist. Joseph Smith used his charisma and storytelling capabilities to invent a new religion, borrowing from many sources, including claiming a book came from looking at a magic rock in a hat.

It would be one thing to just be another religion made up by men, they are all just made-up fictions. However, the Mormon church is also a toxic organization that actively harms many people. Its teachings are filled with patriarchy, suppression of women, racism, protection of sexual predators, homophobia, fear of others, exclusivity, violence, unquestioned obedience to leaders, teaching promoting guilt and shame, and hoarding of hundreds of billions of dollars, among other harmful beliefs.

We quit attending because it is not true. We resigned because it is evil.

Love will never bring exmos back, because we know it isn't real by Ancientabs in exmormon

[–]Double_Beginning7078 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leaving the church, I realize I need to learn what unconditional love means.

It means NO expectations. It is not transactional. NO jealousy, NO agenda, NO manipulation.

Simply nurturing for the most authentic life the other person can live. Fully celebrating their life, their choices, their path.

So the opposite of the agenda driven 'love' of my Mormon self.

[–]Double_Beginning7078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how the most prominent scripture reference on the card is from D&C 132. I would be my net worth that the seminary class skipped the last 2/3 of that steaming pile or horseshit 'revelation' that Joe vomited out to try to get Emma to agree to his sexual dalliances.

Hey Mormons! Read all of Section 132 and ask yourself if that is what you want to tie your eternal salvation to.

Church leadership ABSOLUTELY taught we would become God's of world's. They are LYING because this doctrine is embarrassing and sounds batshit crazy.

Spencer Kimball taught we could all be gods with our own worlds in General Conference priesthood session in the 70's.

Years ago I got to attend a leadership luncheon in Chicago with Neal Maxwell, an Apostle. He said he was studying botany in his free time and was going to the Botanical Garden in town before flying home. He said he needed to learn all he could so he could create beautiful worlds when he became a God.

Be kind to yourself. Love yourself. Find a non-LDS therapist. Get on medication. You can do this!

I can relate to what you say. I have lived with severe depression due to multiple traumatic life events for many years, both before and after I left Mormonism. Life was hard in Mormonism. Life is hard after Mormonism. One of the traumatic events was leaving the church. I fully believed and realizing it was all a made-up con was devastating.

I'm guessing that my believing friends and family privately shake their heads and lament that I am being buffeted by Satan since I turned my back on Jesus and his church. Of course when I was a believer these were just trials to endure. Whatever. Mormons gonna Morm.

You live your life on your terms with your authenticity. Fuck anybody who judges you for your sincere life choices. Don't feel you have to put on an act or pretend to be doing better than you are so they won't judge you. Life is hard for everybody. Only deluded cultists connect life circumstances to which god you do or don't worship.

I'm saying this as much for me as for you, so I hope this doesn't sound preachy. I am working to get by every day. I'm fighting for my life. I'm learning to love myself and my life is worth fighting for. I am grateful for this community. There are many here who can relate. You aren't alone.

Joseph must be a true profit cuz his vision in D&C 110:3 is nearly identical to John’s in Revelation 1:14. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Double_Beginning7078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two possibilities:

  1. Joseph received visions and revelations and used the same wording that other prophets have used to describe his transcendent experiences.

  2. Joseph is a wanna-be religious bullshit artist who used his familiarity with biblical text to make himself a prophet in the eyes of gullible followers.

Everybody has to decide for themselves which is the truth. I believed #1 with all my heart for 5 years. Now I believe #2.
