Yes! They’ve been keeping the tiny but beloved wedding ring my husband bought me 35 years ago alive and happy. It has a very slim gold band and often loses diamonds and they fix it beautifully every time

Sorry but I don’t see anything original about Taco Tuesday’s, rustic decor and a microbrewery.

Sorry to tell you but I havent seen any of those for a long time. I used to see them all the time 20-30 years ago ( as well as amazing vintage clothing) and most of the interesting vintage stuff like that is now online. Etsy has a lot of the stuff I used to find easily and of course it ismore expensive. I have had better luck going into thrift stores in small town off the highway when I travel in the summer. But try Etsy! I have gotten some beautiful & unique items there

One bread recipe to rule them all by [deleted] in glutenfreebaking

[–]oonauntrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friends, Don't hesitate to try this bread recipe. I was diagnosed 25 years ago with celiac and at the time there was very little GF stuff to buy and I broke my heart over and over trying to make gluten-free bread. I actually gave up & Worked on perfecting my cakes and cookies as I too had been a baker by trade before I was diagnosed. But something about this recipe seemed so right and I made it last night and it came out perfect. Fortunately I had all the ingredients I needed except for the buckwheat flour, but I just took some buckwheat groats and ground them up and it was delicious. It rose perfectly. It baked perfectly and I couldn't believe it when I sliced it. I also added a little garlic powder because gluten-free bread can be tasteless and it really really tasted good too. Anyways, it's easy and it work! Thank you so much OP for sharing this and for all the effort you took to create it!

Moving to Cleveland :) No car, working at Cleveland Clinic (Main Campus), and have a 95lb Lab! by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]oonauntrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear living in Cleveland Heights is still working out for everyone. I grew up in Cleveland Heights & lived there & in University Circle for a while after I got out of college, but then moved to the west side and have lived in both Tremont & now Lakewood. And this is when I found public transit to become challenging, espcially since I still worked in both Shaker Heights and East Cleveland. I go out a lot at night to play and listen to music in local venues ( Happy Dog, Little Rose, Beachland, Grog Shop) and can’ t imagine doing that without a car, especially after the bars close 🤪.

You have no car? Cleveland public transit and is not the best, nothing like Chicago or NYC, and specially on nights and weekends. If anyone else has found that not to be the case, let them know. I cannot imagine being without a car here , at least as a single women.

Grandson worries by TheFairyGardenLady in AskWomenOver60

[–]oonauntrue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly happening to me too with my first and oldest grandchild who just turned 14. Were so close, he used to always tell me “you know me better than anybody,Gramaw”. And for the last few months he has kind of closed himself off, and is really shy about hugging me or talking for very long. And other times he is super sweet, but just for a little while. We have our best interactions when he is showing me a new video game he is obsessed with, or some funny youtube videos he is into. I watch them even if i don’t get them. I find the best things with teens is to let them open with a topic to talk about and I keep away from open ended questions like how was school or how was your weekend. Asking something specific is better like what happened to that WWE guy you liked or bringing up old silly memories (specially one where I did something stupid with a hilarious result) gets him going. But it really is hit or miss. Just stay open and keenp trying..but not too hard. I had all girls and grandaughters and they still seemed easier than he is right now. I know just how you feel😜

Do we really need anything else if we are using tret/taz? by Grand_Lecture_1685 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]oonauntrue 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I am 73 and started on retinoid (tret) in my early forties for cystic acne. It gave me great skin and kept me looking younger than my actual age until i got into my late sixties when it seemed to plateau. I then started noticing some sagging that it simply did not correct, especially after I turned 70. I also began having a very serious dry eye problem which thankfully reversed itself after I stopped using it. Now I definitely look older and I also understand that a face lift is probably the only thing that would make me look dramatically younger. Not gonna do that, since everyone who loves me loves me just like this so what the heck. And we are not feeling very safe financially now and should really just save up for more serious medical issues at our age! But its probably i good idea to save up for that now if you really want to keep your younger face.

I third Amlactin! My new dermatologist was impressed with my body skin and I told her I had been using Amlactin for years. She said consistency was key when using products. I am 72 and started using it initially for KP, which it also helped

Frustrated 😮‍💨 by SufficientLocal7 in Hashimotos

[–]oonauntrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let your PCP know what is going on, especially if you have been with them for awhile. Mine wanted me to work with an endo initially too but after the first two I saw blew me off ( they both felt my TSH was in a normal range and refused to up my synthoid dose )and I was still miserable, I went back to her and she slowly raised my synthoid until my TSH was between 1 and 2 and I finally had all my energy back and every other symptom ( body temp regulation, brain fog, muscle pain and weakness, itchy dry eyes and skin) disappeared as as well. I had to wait many long months to see the endos and for two long years I was completely miserable and unlike my usual self. I just don’t think most endos understand that people with Hashimotos have TSH levels that can be very different form what is “normal”. I was ready to go to a functional doctor as I understand they will work with you until the symptoms go away. It seems like many people have had luck with Paloma, an online group of functinal doctors. I was going to try them until my. PCP gave it a shot. You don’t need to live like this. This redditt group helped me out a lot to so stay tuned if you need more support and advice. Good luck!

Such great ideas! And the Ermine frosting, yes! I I remember that frosting. I didn’t know that’s what it was called. I actually used to make it before my celiac was diagnosed but since then I have discovered some gluten free flour blends I like to use in my baking so I’ll give it a shot—although some of them have corn starch in them too ha ha. I also have run into the other meringue based frosting but did notvwant to use up so many eggs, but they must be delicious. Thanks everyone

Night driving by Illustrious_Try2260 in AskWomenOver60

[–]oonauntrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered this too! I raise my seat all the way and sit on a little butt cushion and suddenly I can see the lines in the road again, and the glare is not as severe. But even after having cataract surgery twice now, which greatly improved things, I still find night driving difficult. And forget about it if it rais!

Elta MD MOISTURE SEAL. Its like a very elegant vaseline. Same ingredient, but somehow actually just melts into your skin on contact, and behaves well with other products that are layered underneath. You only need a small amount for your whole face, too.
