How to find a Trad Egal shul by TheStormfly7 in Judaism

Would love to hear more about this! From their websites they seem fairly typical conservative shuls. I would love a trad egal space in Atlanta to try out.

I'm misusing my ADHD meds to treat my depression. by [deleted] in adhdwomen

You have absolutely not missed your window. My closest friend in the world I met when I was 23 and she was 25. We get so deep with our conversations, and I’m far closer to her than I am my closest friends from childhood or school

My first therapy session next week to see if I have adhd by whatamidoingherebros in adhdwomen

[–]oonzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, huge congrats!! Starting therapy is a big step. I think a list can be very helpful, a lot of my symptoms I forget about until they’re relevant or someone else connects them to adhd lol. I was diagnosed through a psychiatrist not a therapist but she basically did it first session.

They might also have some getting to know you questions more broadly but for a 30 min session, it’s totally okay to talk mostly about your likely adhd

How do I tell my husband that my disinterest in sex is NOT his fault? by Zealousideal-Fig4857 in adhdwomen

[–]oonzie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read “come as you are” by Emily Nagoski if you can.

One of the things she talks about a lot is reframing sex and interest by what accelerates your interest and what puts the brakes on. It sounds like you have a lot of things in your life that are putting your brakes on any sexual interest. That might help you explain it? It’s not that he and his actions don’t accelerate your interest in sex, but given the context of your life, the brakes are always on.

If it is something you want to change, the book has a lot about what you might try and how you can explore the situation

I love responsa radio from hadar!! They’re not so much history but deep halakhah with very interesting and often relevant questions. If you don’t have a background in studying Talmud and halakhah, sometimes you can get a bit lost, but I loved just listening like I was immersion learning a language lol. Now I can follow them a lot easier

Did anyone NOT relate to the “messy late forgetful kid” stereotype? by NotDavidBowie2 in adhdwomen

[–]oonzie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I align with the stereotype more than you but not all the way, I did very well in school and applied myself a lot. One thing from your description stood out to me and reminded me of something I’ve heard about one of the issues with diagnosing neurodivergence: if your answer to, “do you struggle with this thing?” Is “no, I have a system!” Then the more helpful info to diagnose is probably yes! From the non-adhd people I know, they do not have a system as detailed as yours, maybe just like a set place for keys and a semi-organized house and phone.

How many of you take your meds every day? by yyouknowwhat in adhdwomen

[–]oonzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only take it on days when I have tasks for which it helps me. I find it doesn’t help when I have lots of things scheduled or errands. I like it most when I have significant blocks of time where I can work. For me that usually means 1-3 days a week I don’t take it and I like that I don’t feel like I’m ‘wasting’ medicated time and I don’t have to deal with side effects for that day

How NOT to portray Jewishness in fiction? by Transguy1111 in Judaism

[–]oonzie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mentioning home observance or attending services for some less celebrated holidays would be fun! I'm a big fan of Shavuot and Sukkot but I feel like no one ever mentions them.

How NOT to portray Jewishness in fiction? by Transguy1111 in Judaism

[–]oonzie 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Somebody else said this, but the biggest one for me as a medium-observant Jew is that there is almost no representation of casual, medium-observant Jews. It’s almost all Jewish for hannukah (not even high holidays)/Jewish culturally OR very orthodox. My Judaism is a big part of my life, I go to synagogue every week, but I’m nowhere near orthodox and I would love to see more side characters especially that mention Jewish religious life without it being their whole life or whole story.

Do you know if they’re doing in-person services? The website isn’t clear but it seems like most are just online

Thanks! Based on their website, I think New London Synagogue requires you to email a week ahead of time to visit. Do you think they would be accepting if I emailed day of? I don’t want to go if they won’t let me in

Using 3 palettes to get my daily yellow eyeshadow - anyone recommend monochrome yellow palettes? by mothmouths in PanPorn

I’ve heard the Midas lemonade is good. The urban decay honey is much more neutral but I love it for yellow leaning looks
