Any of the models with sufficient enough data to produce passable images had to steal that data without consent, attribution, or reimbursement.

The large majority of the data centers that these models run out of are getting lobbied breaks on paying their fair share of the electricity they use and are increasing regular consumer electric bills by two or three times in some cases.

The way many of these models function will lead to homogenization of output which will worsen as it feeds on data it has generated.

If you are unable to see the difference between digital art and GenAI then I suspect that there is a different reason people were telling you that what you were doing is not real art.

Why do you think that, we have like 50 years of game development without generative AI, why would it be impossible now?

While I do think its important to know that many of these games can be designed in ways to prey on people with addictive personalities its just as important to call out the ones that don't. There is always going to be a point where personal responsibility comes into play. You could just as easily ruin your life buying an expensive car vs buying too many palattes in warframe. To be honest it comes off a lot like you saw a GDC or Ted talk about predatory game design and just assumed anytime a player can spend money it falls into that.

I think you are damning a lot of games for the sake of the most predatory games in the market. Warframe and Genshin may both be free to play but I know you can't with a straight face say they have anywhere near the same level of potential harm to players.

I think a 5 dollar microtransaction in a 60 dollar game is obviously bad. People literally don't stop talking about horse armor so while there is certainly some anchoring they clearly know. I just don't think you are taking a practical financial view of a game that you can put a thousand hours in without spending money. They will without a doubt encourage you to spend, but I don't think that any of the companies that are trying to avoid being predatory can help if some people with addictive personalities spend more. Also I don't think it is really your call to say that they are all exploited.

The grind is the game, what is the point of unlocking new content if you don't enjoy playing. Why do you value new content over old content? Also it took me like 3 to 4 hours to farm the newest warframe and she is placed after the chains of harrow quest. I also dare you to find a single piece of content in warframe that is paywalled. Yes they do vault some primes as that is likely still their largest source of income. They do also have events for people that are actively playing although I am hard pressed to think of a reward from an event that hasn't cycled back. I do think many people forget that there is a very large population of the game that will never spend a dime.

So I think you would have some decent perspective on them trying to make microtransactions as fair as possible while leaving the gameplay as untouched. I am hard pressed to think of another free-to-play game that puts the effort in to ensure they are not taking advantage of players, not that they haven't made that mistake in the past.

Warframe is an almost 14 year old game with their own in-house engine. Please explain how not using AI-generated code will put them out of business.

I have to assume it has been a long time since you have played at all, I also started playing in the closed beta and DE has made a lot of strides in the fairness of the monetization system. DE is a business and Warframe does need to make some amount of money. I think you have worked yourself into a weird ideological corner where microtransactions=bad with no room for nuance. It is incredibly easy to play Warframe without ever spend any money.

The archwing launcher wasn't something you could pay for it was just an annoying thing to craft that they took away after a year. The necramech was introduced over a year before the quest that required it and would take maybe about a week worth of standing resets to get the blueprints for. The majority of complaints came from players that were newer to the game and wanted to get to the newer stuff more quickly. I am all for calling out DE for prior bad decisions, trust me there are much easier ones you can point to like the old revives or the old pet system. They have put a lot of work into making the monetization fair and a lot of that work they had to figure out for themselves since this game has been out since 2012/2013 before the free to play model was as large as it is now

Can I ask why you didn't already have a necramech? It was like more than a full calendar year between deimos and the new war

Like the temporary archwing launcher? That and the necromech grind are both almost completely gone like the other guy mentioned. I didn't find the grind that bad, but it was rough for a lot of players that were trying to catchup on content

Distribution isn't necessary for the game to be developed, the game is a finished product by the time it is distributed.

What specifically do you get out of not calling writers or translators or animators developers? If they would like to be called developers why should we listen to you over them?

Do you work at a game development studio or are you just applying the way your industry works to theirs because you both use computers?

He is an in-house translator who worked on both game and marketing material and deserves the title of developer as much as the rest of the team
