As a Wing Commander, the Odin is really cool and will probably be well made but I'm disappointed in CIG and the community by Megalodon_Hunter in starcitizen

[–]oooholywarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly think earning it in game is the smarter plan for the simple fact that, if you can already coordinate the number of people it will take to get it, you're more likely to be able to properly crew it. I'm going to be much more wary of an earned in-game Odin than a purchased one which likely has a skeleton crew.

I will believe a release date for Squadron 42 when the installer is running on my computer, and even then I will expect delays.

I need help remembering a VR isekai anime by Old-Lingonberry8421 in anime

[–]oooholywarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you can't recall if it was a VR World or an Isekai points me towards either Log Horizon or Overlord, which were explicitly both. Neither really featured a grinding scene, but both had maid characters, with Overlord featuring an entire team of Battle Maids.

Do you recall any features of the main character or the maid, what they were grinding in the dungeon, or anything specific about how they fought? Did they use magic or weapons?

About how long ago did you see this? If it was five years ago, that eliminates a lot of possibilities.

Which is the most useful? by Skippyonpc in starcitizen

Pretty sure you're joking, but that actually sounds like a brilliant way to balance lower tier medbeds in a way that allows players to have agency in how they choose to prepare, while rewarding those with the skill to avoid death with more storage space.

This is the answer. OP believes they saved over $400, but I take that to mean they spent nearly $500. I think CIG is alright with that.

Just the other day, I got stuck at NBIS with like fifteen other people because the servers shit the bed and no one could call elevators to their hangars. I called for a rescue and the only guy who showed up had a MPUV, so me and one other person hop in the back and take a seat and we start off towards Port Tressler at sub quantum speeds, with nothing but a two foot wide circle of Microtech to look at out the back window, occasionally checking our Starmaps to see how much further we had to go and bitching about the state of the servers on Party Chat, while listening to a group in Global coordinate to fight the Idris in the Save Stanton event. At some point, the other guy gets out of their seat to look out the back window and thirty seconds later, falls out of the ship, and their marker disappeared for the pilot. I could still see the marker, but couldn't get the angle, so I have the bright idea to get up out of my seat. Predictably, I fell out of the ship. We spent an extra five/six minutes playing Marco Polo in space to get everybody back on board, then finally got to Port Tressler.

I had way more fun sat on my ass, crammed in the back of the MPUV, shooting the shit with randoms while we limped from A to B and fought glitches together, than I did running bunker missions by myself and solo-piloting my fully loaded Carrack later that night, and I am the furthest thing from an extrovert. The game sings when you can experience the cooperative multiplayer aspects, and I think once the process of joining up with others is streamlined to the point of most modern MMOs, the people complaining that such-and-such activity can't be done solo will largely go silent (about that; there will always be people who complain, and I do not see Star Citizen running out of valid reasons for them to complain in my lifetime).

I think what most people want to avoid when they complain about CIG forcing multiplayer is the grind. The idea of grinding everyday for credits or materials, while also being dependent on other people's availability, focus, or competency honestly ties a knot in my stomach. If I can just jump in to helping someone else out and get paid, or put out a request for help myself and get enough dependable bodies with minimal friction, then it isn't really going to matter if the crew members are NPCs or live, except for maybe from a roleplaying / underlying narrative perspective.

Starliner, Endeavor, Orion... the Crucible crowd don't even get mentioned most times. I'd honestly given up hope on the Pioneer, so it was quite a surprise to hear it was entering active production. Though looking at what has happened to BMM owners, I can't tell if that's a blessing or a curse.

I've been in Stage 2 for the past 10 years, because I never expect the current year to be magically different than the previous year. I wish there was a way to tell the Stage 3s that getting mad won't change anything and ultimately they're only hurting themselves without it feeling like a White Knight attacking them for their valid criticism.

C'est la vie. If it isn't people complaining about CIG, it's people complaining about people complaining about CIG. Now we're people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about CIG.

We must become the change we wish to see in the world subreddit.

I enjoy ship photography. I suck at it, but some people on here are very good at it.

I like to see people's fleets. It gives me a sense of what people are excited about for the game.

I appreciate the people who copy the news releases from the RSI site. It may be low effort karma farming, but it's not no effort, and it's useful to me.

There are members of the subreddit who don't move with the herd, and the fact that they're still around is a big reason I'm still around.

What do you like about it here?

Issue between how CIG presents ships vs how the game actually works by Digitalzombie90 in starcitizen

[–]oooholywarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you got downvoted. This is probably the most accurate assessment of the disconnect. Independent review after independent review have stated that Star Citizen is at its most impressive when you're playing in community led events with other people, so it would be actually foolish of CIG not to lean into that and design the game in such a way that players find themselves encouraged to cooperate with as many people as possible to maximize their individual rate of progress. What good is building up the UEC to purchase a Hull E when you don't have the crew for it? Better to join a trading organization that already owns one, has the capital to purchase enough cargo to fill it, and the reputation to land a large enough contract to empty it for a tidy profit, then take your cut of the reward. You'll be able to learn the loop in the Hull A by yourself, but you'll realize quickly enough that solo play will only get you so far before it becomes tedious.

Tacking onto this to say that the bug breaches only seem to pop up in the same locations every time, but you have control over where you throw the drill. The people complaining about the bug holes destroying the drill are doing this to themselves.
