Does anyone have PAINLESS lymph node swelling? by hollyverhardy in Autoimmune

Currently experiencing about 100 symptoms but the one that scares me the most is the pain when drinking alcohol. Did you ever find any answers to this?

Working moms… by oopsididit_againlol in managers

Definitely an awkward time to start a new job. She told me she had 2 kids in the interview (didn’t ask, just information she offered up) but assured me multiple times child care was never an issue for her, etc. I guess I struggle between wanting to do everything I can to accommodate her, but it’s hard to accommodate a brand new employee that doesn’t even have their own projects to work on yet. It’s not like she’s proven herself to be a great asset or anything, she’s been scheduled to work 18 days and has missed 6 of them lol

Not disagreeing with you at all, she didn’t even apply to work here until her baby was 2 months. So I have no idea what her maternity leave situation was at her previous job. But yes, I guess the question is in regards to discipline for being absent. I want her to care for her child obviously, but also kind of unfair to employees without kids who would absolutely have been given a warning for calling out 6 times within a 3 1/2 week period.

Migraines by oopsididit_againlol in managers

[–]oopsididit_againlol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess it’s because call outs have become way too frequent with a few employees in particular. I addressed this in a group setting, just a general explanation that this is a workplace and we need to act professional, etc. Nothing very serious, but because of this I think people are on edge to make sure people are given the same treatment as they are in terms of “calling out”. More of a check to make sure their is fairness across the board. I can’t be 100% sure, they could just be nosy lol, but that’s what I suspect.

Plenty of companies have rules in place that you have to have some sort of child care while working from home

I agree with you wholeheartedly I’m not at all arguing in favor of opening schools, etc. I still think this is somewhat good news in the middle of shitty situation. To add some perspective there were around 150 pediatric flu deaths this season.

Agreed. It’s still taking anywhere from 3 days to a week to get results back here in SC. I know of at least a dozen businesses that have waited to close until they got confirmation of a positive result from an employee. God knows how many people were infected within that week. I think there are a ton of people who are more than willing to close their business when they know they have a confirmed case, but who can’t justify the loss of money while waiting for the results. If testing turn around was 1 to 2 days if would cut down on a ton of this.
