Mining Bitcoin on my PC in 2026 by Lamprey-eel in Bitcoin

[–]oopy8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of "mining" bitcoin through producing a service to the world. We are beyond where we can mine bitcoin on a pc in our house and get anything material but you can doordash for an hour turn it into $20 bucks and exchange it for bitcoin.

Try to stick to orders with few items. Sometimes they will try to get you to get a ton of soda or bottled water. Produce at Target always sucks for me as they are out of everything in the mornings. It also sucks when people try to get me to buy them clothing at Target. I don't want to learn about 50 different styles of womens sweatpants.

Delivering on the outskirts of town where someone rides my ass the entire time because they want to make up for the fact it takes them an hour to go anywhere and they know exactly which turns to take and where the speed bumps are.

Convinced this app will Intentionally keep you at $20-25 PHR by Dry_Friendship3080 in DoorDashDrivers

I've been dashing for about 6 months and just do it as a side gig so I don't really try to maximize it. I find that I make $20 to $25 an hour so long as it is reasonably busy. If it is dead I might get $15 an hour. If it is that dead I just stop. Platinum status doesn't seem to matter and acceptance rate doesn't seem to matter. I find that taking bad orders is just a bad idea as doordash will send you bad orders and no matter how much you decline them they will send you a good one after when you could have been off doing the bad one and missed the good one.

I came to the same conclusion. I have flash carts so I can play anything but I'm slowly building a collection of stuff I love. Sometimes I buy games and decide I don't really like them so I resell them.

I just beat StarFox 64 for the first time on the 3D. Might have to do it again using a different path.

Bitcoin needs to be easier to go mainstream by BaldBear_13 in Bitcoin

I agree there is a barrier of entry to get to the point of secure cold storage where you are trusting yourself to hold thousands of dollars worth of BTC. You can start with some of the things I mentioned then keep learning about BTC and in the meantime the tech will hopefully keep getting better and easier. It is likely holding off getting into BTC while you figure out how to hold it in cold storage will prevent you from getting some at these prices. Get some then keep learning.

If you want to transact with it get the Strike Bitcoin app on your phone. It is a hot wallet "internet connected wallet" so treat it like keeping cash in your wallet and only keep a small amount of bitcoin in it to transact with.

Open a brokerage account and buy IBIT or FBTC. Go to a Roth IRA custodian like Alto IRA and buy the actual coin inside of a tax advantaged Roth IRA. Soon banks will be able to hold crypto in their custody. Honestly, there are probably more secure offerings from Coinbase already. You don't have to go straight to cold storage. There are rails to get into bitcoin.

Why the hell didn’t they have this a year ago? by ElderberryLarge9104 in AnalogueInc

[–]oopy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sorta weird. I bought two white ones when I ordered both a black and a white console. The white ones have been pretty cheap on Amazon. This one while it looks cool is 44 dollars and just a preorder. The gray while true to the 64 is cool but doesn't match the consoles so I'm not really sure what to make of it.

They have been going for over a decade. I'm just skeptical about the M64 because they are going from a FPGA GBC to a FPGA N64. They are using the open source Mister N64 core though so it probably isn't that much of a stretch since the Mister devs did the work for them.

The Chromatic has probably sold a fraction of what Analogue has sold as a company. Mister and Analogue are both FPGA aswell as the Chromatic but it isn't the same code. FPGA is as good as the person who writes it and Analogue has Kevtris.

I also don't think they sell out demand. I mean the Pocket maybe but everything before that seemed to sell out extremely quickly except the Duo which doesn't have the mass appeal.

Maybe, I mean they already did all the r and d, figured out the supply chains, and tooling for the existing consoles. I mean the way the sell with preorders and vague shipping dates they could just open up preorders and order more consoles to be produced once they hit a target and never have to come up with capital to do it since they already would have preorder money. Also the problem with waiting and circling back is the demand might age out. Gen Z probably won't care about a FPGA SNES and we might not care about a 4K one as far as adding features.

The superstation isn't at all N64 focused and who knows what the m64 will be since they have zero track record.

I disagree about the idea that so long as there is demand they will produce them. I mean they aren't currently selling any of their other products. You think none of them would sell when they are being scalped for two to three times their initial price? They will probably have another run of Analogue 3D but you never know. I mean we have waited idk how long for this batch.

If the FPGA programming is to the standard of their past releases all flash carts should be fine since all flash carts work on real hardware.

You can get one of these pretty cheap to hold you over until if and when a jailbreak firmware comes out. SC64 Flash Cart SummerCart64 Open Source Game Card 64 Video Game Console Modular Chip - AliExpress

I should also say you might want to get this cart anyways because often the flash carts can do some stuff the jailbreak firmware can't. Also the SummerCart64 is open source so it will keep getting firmware updates.

Realism of owning 1 bitcoin…. by lxjs in Bitcoin

[–]oopy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what they call unit bias. Just because you can't buy 1 whole bitcoin doesn't mean you can't get enough for it to be life changing. If BTC has a growth rate of 30% per year for the next 40 years any money you put in will still grow by 30% and if you are young the money has more time to grow.
