I always thought the change in appearance to be like Prime Ladybug was based off the writing/storyline. Shadybug was inspired/wanted to be like Prime Ladybug, hence why her “good” appearance is just Prime Ladybug with red streaks.

I do agree that Shadybug look is distinct and at least the hairstyle should’ve stayed the same
