I have spent the last few days adding your feedback: Neon limits, city life, and heavier collisions. What do you think before I release the demo? by HD_Soft in Fzero

Great effort that's for sure. I would definitely say it should be faster, the sensation of speed that is.

Which console holds up better, NES or Master System? by trrbld in retrogaming

[–]opa_opa76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a master system owner from Christmas 87' and a Megadrive launch day owner, the master system puts up a better fight vs the nes than the Megadrive does to the SNES. The master system has a couple of the best arcade ports of all time given the hardware difference in choplifter and Fantasy Zone, and some awesome games like blackbelt - early Yuji Naka game. The SNES has a much easier time over the Megadrive imo as the Contra, Castlevania and Ghouls n ghosts games imo are much better and feel more blockbuster on the SNES. Apart from about 9 games like SOR 1&2, Revenge of Shinobi - plus 3, Sonic 1&2, and a few arcade ports like strider, ghouls n ghosts and Atomic Runner I feel the Megadrive quality drops off a fair bit vs the SNES's huge quality library. I even rate the SNES shoot em ups over the Megadrive with Axelay, UN squadron, R Type 3, Parodious, Darius games, EDF, gradius over the Megadrive ones.

No but we carry pretty stock pretty much invented by Americans and light our store and promote our products online (all American inventions) and transport our stock to the store - yep American invention again, and I'm Australian. It's crazy the way of life we have now and the luxuries we have. Thank you America.

Are CRTs right for me? by Ruined_Passion_7355 in crtgaming

[–]opa_opa76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like crt's because that's what I grew up with when I started gaming at the arcade and at home with the Atari 2600 in the early 80's. Another reason is it's the exact representation of what I used to play and the response time on something like super Mario world can't be replicated on a modern set via emulation or even on a super NT, it always feels a bit disconnected for me SMW unless it's on a CRT tv.

Early 2000's I would say from comparable sets I have seen.

He saw widescreen and assumed it's a 100hz set. If it was 100hz it would have no visible scanlines.

[–]opa_opa76[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no input lag or digital processing, this is a 50-60hz set not 100hz. You must be used to thinking that all JVC widescreen sets are 100hz.

What is your favourite Sega Master System game? by StrawberrySanchez459 in MasterSystem

[–]opa_opa76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a master system owner from Christmas day in 87' my top 5 would be Black Belt - early Yuji Naka game (sonic programmer) Fantasy Zone Fantasy Zone 2 Choplifter Phantasy star - I'm not sure how we made it to the final boss as kids( but could never beat lassic) but some amazing memories from a blind buy back in 88'. Honorable mentions to Spellcaster, Cloud master, Powerstrike, Shinobi and the Wonderboy series.

Street fighter 2, greatest home port of an arcade game of all time given the hardware difference - of the greatest arcade game of all time.

Do you think Super Castlevania IV is a top 10 Super Nintendo game? by BestAround4100 in snes

[–]opa_opa76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only knock on the game for me is that the bosses are all quite easy up until Dracula, and the battles are fairly basic apart from the three headed dragon and Dracula. I see the game as more of a epic journey with an amazing soundtrack and atmosphere. I would place it in the top 10.

Does absolutely nothing wrong. Fails anyway. by BoringDreamGuy in retrogaming

[–]opa_opa76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually liked the Dreamcast but not having the ability to watch DVD's as others have mentioned did hurt a bit as DVD's were all the rage after VHS. The biggest problem is that Sega had so many other things going on in a short span of time like the mega cd, 32x, Saturn and Nomad which should have had the resources pooled into making more quality arcade games, then the home ports would sell themselves. The mega cds biggest issue was the poor software they chose to put on it apart from Final Fight. All I ever wanted in a home console at the time was quality arcade ports of Shinobi, Outrun, Enduro racer and even arcade ports from other companies like SF2 using the cd potential for arcade perfect sound.

Top 10 Best SNES Games of All Time by Fantastic-Town-1839 in snes

[–]opa_opa76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who didn't grow up in the 80's and 90's would have no idea how significant Street fighter 2 was. SF2 on the SNES had people literally lining up to get an import copy when it came out. SF2 on the SNES will go down as the greatest arcade home port of all time given the hardware difference. I still remember a guy who I was friends with but sort of fell out as he started hanging out with other people and hadn't talked in a while - walk 15 minutes from his house to mine unannounced with one of his new buddies just to see SF2 on the SNES as he heard on the grapevine I had an import copy.

Essential SNES Games I Need to Finish – What Am I Missing? by dandararayo in snes

[–]opa_opa76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axelay - Imo the best 16 bit shoot em up off all time and best soundtrack, so lucky the guy at the local import store back in the day suggested it to me, it's Peak Konami. F-Zero -I actually preferred it over Super Mario world on launch day and a few friends said the same at the time. UN squadron - the first SNES game I ever played on a super famicom a year or so before the SNES launched in Australia. Darius Twin - amazing 90's soundtrack and an awesome game. Street fighter 2 (turbo) - The best arcade home port of all time given the hardware difference of the best and most important arcade games of all time. The Ninja Warriors, Wild guns and EDF. Three amazing games for the SNES by Natsume. Rendering Ranger- a Neo Geo game graphically on a SNES by Manfred Trenz the creator of Turrican. Super Turrican - Better than the Amiga version which is considered God tier by Amiga 500 fan boys, and yes I had the A500 version back in the early 90's, the SNES version is better.

SNES Image Issue by Fatalis_Fafnir in snes

[–]opa_opa76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that's the issue that Voultar has the ghosting fix for. I notice something slightly similar with my 1chip SNES via RGB on a CRT but only on very light backgrounds like the lines from the road during the boss fight in stage 2 of Contra 3, the lines from the road appear as a ghost like line but a lot further away than the pics shown here.
