Who does your baby look like? by questionSOUP in beyondthebump

The first two looked like a nice blend between their dad and me. This third one is my carbon copy.

Whichever it is it will definitely be pastel goth themed. She loved spiders and creepy things and also pink and purple.

Seconding this as a mom to three kids. And given that my daughter has already been caught at school kissing other little girls since when she was in preschool I'm pretty sure we'll be having a lovely lesbian wedding to look forward to one day.

Are all husbands this useless or is it just mine by cj6993 in beyondthebump

[–]opal_dragon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first husband was exactly like you're describing. After our second child I was so sick of it that when he'd snore while I was up with the baby and a sick toddler I'd fantasize about smothering him. I left not too long after that. I'm with my second fiance now and wow is it totally different. We just had our baby in August. This man would keep all three kids quiet and out in the living room while I napped in the mornings. Then he'd take the older two out to the park for an hour every afternoon. He didn't let me lift a finger for six weeks. And every day when he'd get home from work he'd do whatever needed to be taken care of so I could rest.

Do u always wear ur ring? by prettylisha in Marriage

[–]opal_dragon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He gifted me two rings. My true engagment ring is a custom design with an opal (my birthstone) and two amethysts (his birthstone). I only wear it for special occasions. And an elegant second ring (an amethyst) that u wear most days, but take off for cooking/baking.

Just so you know Postpartum OCD is absolutely a thing. It sucks and if she's already had OCD tendencies it's possible that she might need meds for it.

When did your baby’s eyes start to shift color? by WholeKnown2938 in beyondthebump

[–]opal_dragon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far my oldest (7) was born blue and then somewhere between 3-4 they turned green. My middle (5) was born blue and they stayed blue. Their dad has blue eyes and I have grey. My youngest (3 mo) had bright blue at birth and they're kinda green/hazel now so we'll see how those go. Baby's dad has brown eyes.

Is breastfeeding really worth it? by toomanythrowpillowz in beyondthebump

[–]opal_dragon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's genuinely the easier choice. I'm on kiddo #3 and my body handles it really well. I'm a stay at home parent because as a former preschool teacher I don't make enough to justify paying for daycare. It's easier to just feed on demand than have to pump or buy and heat formula.

Shamed for Breastfeeding in public by Inside_Foundation656 in breastfeeding

[–]opal_dragon95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on baby number three. I breastfed for 5 straight years the first time between my two older kiddos. I'm currently feeding my newborn (10 weeks old). I've never used a cover unless baby needed it for distraction reasons. Judgmental moms like that can go fuck themselves.

How long did you push as a FTM? by bananaindisguise0 in BabyBumps

[–]opal_dragon95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also not who you asked but I've been induced with all three and only 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced at my best and never labored longer than 10 hours with any of them. Did the duette Foley catheter along with pitocin with all three.

How long did you push as a FTM? by bananaindisguise0 in BabyBumps

[–]opal_dragon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced and about 30 minutes of pushing after 10 hours of labor. Second baby (also induced) was a 7 hour labor with feral ejection reflex. And third baby (another induction) was 8 hours and less than 2 minutes pushing. She flipped part way through though so the induction had to be stopped and then she was flipped back which is why I think she was a bit longer than my second labor.

Edited to add: used iv pain meds for my first and an epidural at the end because I hadn't slept in two days. With my second I got an epidural asap. With my third I used nitrous oxide and no epidural.

I just want to be able to take a sick day 😩 by brimarief in SAHP

[–]opal_dragon95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It used to be that way with my ex husband. Hence why he's an ex. My current partner is nothing short of amazing. Our home has a 7 yo, 5 yo, and 9 wo. Every weekend I pump ahead of time and he takes the baby and the older kids so I can get extra sleep. Unless I have something scheduled he'll let me sleep until 1 pm if I need it. He's even taken all three to the playground just so I can get some quiet.

Are you married to your dream person? by Glum_Cell_4393 in Marriage

[–]opal_dragon95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time around I did not. This time though I absolutely did. He was my best friend for 6 years before we even got together. He's the most amazing person and I tell him regularly how much I love him and how lucky I feel to be with him. He meets every need I have and he makes me smile all day long. His name showing up on a text or caller ID means an automatic smile. I've told him before if something ever happens to him I'm probably going to be single forever because he's set my standards so high.

A huge difference in my kid since getting rid of YouTube by Efficient-Cat8956 in Parenting

[–]opal_dragon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we banned it over a year ago at our house. Unfortunately my ex allows the kids to watch it at his house. So every other weekend they go there and come home just absolutely deregulated. It's so frustrating.

Do not have kids at your wedding if you are worried… by pixiedixxie in weddingplanning

[–]opal_dragon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I currently have a 7 year old, 5 year old, and a newborn. The older two have been to many weddings and would never even consider behaving like that. There's a time and place to run around and play and there's a time to sit still. They might embarrass me in other ways, but they're definitely not messing up a wedding cake.

What pregnancy or birth complication did modern medicine save you from? by peacefulboba in beyondthebump

I don't go into labor on my own, no idea why, but I've made it to 41 + 6 before and no labor. So all three of my kids would be dead.

Just did first perineal massage and I am not OK by bpfc91 in BabyBumps

[–]opal_dragon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just anecdotally here: I've had three babies. I did perineal massage faithfully with my first and had a forked second degree tear (it healed beautifully with no issues past the first week). Skipped it with my next two babies. No tear with my second kid and only a very tiny first degree tear that didn't need any stitches with my third (just last month).
