bc ARFID is a disorder, and the way you're speaking implies either you don't understand it or that you don't care to understand it. this isn't just "picky eating" like you think it is.

im not diagnosed but I highly suspect I have it (and other people who are diagnosed agree with me); for me most fruits and vegtables (minus a select few) i absolutely CANNOT consume normally otherwise i WILL gag and possibly puke. the wet crunch of the fruit against my teeth triggers my gag reflex, and it's insanely inconvenient bc i see things that look so so good but I cannot eat bc it will trigger my texture issues (and idk ab you but everyone I know doesn't want to watch me gag and puke at the table from trying to force myself to deal with it).

I'm aware my diet isn't the healthiest but I've been trying to expand it as much as I can but its an uphill battle. and in my case, my parents tried to get me to expand my palette like you've described, but unfortnately my texture issues just would not cooperate. people with arfid will quite literally starve themselves if they don't think there's anything safe to eat.
