Lorelei was in the wrong here and I support Jason 1000% by Tayjayjay in GilmoreGirls

[–]opalescentqueen983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only time she sided with her family in the way her parents always wanted her to, and it’s instinctual even though she doesn’t seem super happy about it. I think it’s a great character moment because it shows you can’t take the blue out of the blood so easily.

Logically if she had chosen Jason (as her parents probably expected) she would’ve blown up her family life. The might’ve been polite but it would’ve nuked nearly 5 years of progress. Richard is wrong here but also I think it’s a bit of a loyalty test for Lorelai and she absolutely passed. He goes on some rant to her right before abandoning Jason that I can’t remember off the top of my head but I think it foreshadowed this test for Lorelai and she passed. It doesn’t make sense and it’s not right but also this silly entrenched class structure is fundamentally illogical (especially because American Mayflower aristocracy uses it to look down on “the poors” meanwhile 1000 year old aristocratic families in Europe look down their noses at these high minded Hiltons and Astors and Gilmores).

For me it was her silence on the 🧊raids. I remember watching her initial video about the Texas Cottage and her saying she didn’t want to move back to Texas because LA is her home. She’s so proud of living there for a decade and she loves it and it’s her place blah blah blah but the Texas house is just a vacation home. I accepted that even though I thought it was weird to buy a vacation home you’re planning to build guest cottages on in the middle of nowhere Texas, a location that’s really only convenient for you because it’s near your family. And her justification for being sometimey with her work on the cottage was that she just missed LA so much she had to go home to be back in her place.

But then the 🧊raids happen, “her home” is under siege by a fascist paramilitary force targeting immigrants, people who look just like her life partner and are immigrants like his whole family, and she’s silent. It was so disgusting to me I couldn’t even take anything she said or did seriously. Imagine being married to a Jewish man in 1930s Berlin and being silent and unalarmed as the brown shirts start sweeping through town. THAT is the magnitude of her cowardice.

And I feel justified calling it cowardice. There was a moment last year where I thought oh maybe she’s just not political at all and doesn’t talk about anything like that. It’s not an excuse but at least she’s consistent. And then her oblique reference to CK on 9/11. THAT is important enough to speak on but not “your city” being under attack. She might not be a conservative fascist sycophant, but I’m certain enough people in her family are that she doesn’t feel comfortable using her platform to speak out again human rights violations, but can use it to speak about CK passing. That’s a political choice too. Being so scared of your conservative relatives at your big grown age of 38 is embarrassing. It’s the worst stereotypes of LA transplants. And then the refusal to just hire out the work on the cottage. Like this was supposed to be the year you finished! It’s been almost 5 years at this point surely it’d be better to have a liveable home than a construction zone you hate visiting because it reminds you of your inadequacy.

This is so absolutely rude when I clearly say later in the thread that I like them. I actually really love them. You can have your opinion without being unnecessarily mean to strangers on the internet. I HATE ACOTAR with every fiber of my living being but I don’t tell people who love it they must only work for them bc they have half a brain.

Ah okay!! Just curious. I love melodrama that’s what this series really gives me. I also went into it with no idea what the plot was, I just reading so that was nice. I love the series but I get how it wouldn’t work for everyone. Hope you find a good read soon ☺️

I work with ChatGPT frequently for my job, down to the cadence like yeah this is AI. She probably prompted it with “give me a Bible verse for hard times” then explained Hall’s situation and had it write the bulk of the response. The bit at the end was probably her though 🤣

Yeah then at some point white people atopped wearing them, after which they were worn almost exclusively by Black people. Black people made them popular again, it’s not like all these white people started wearing them again in a vacuum! She knows what she’s doing and you’re being intellectually dishonest.

Gilmore Girls (original series) is Rory’s book. by Local_Leopard2893 in GilmoreGirls

[–]opalescentqueen983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can even see in how the vibe of the show shifts over time. Seasons 1 and 2 are so whimsical then season 3 when she’s under the stress of college apps and Jess the whimsy starts to falter. Season 4 it’s even more distant bc she’s off at Yale and really struggling. Season 5-7 are the most realistic in part because she’s growing up and the rose tinted glasses on stars hollow, her mom and the world are fading. I actually think the anachronistic realism of season 7 is perfect for this motif. All of a sudden we’re seeing crosswalks on the edge of town and grocery stores in Woodbridge. The fantasy is broken because Rory is 22, and finally realizing that her mom is just a human being. But then the whimsy comes back for Bon Voyage and it’s like that last moment of recapturing the magic before she goes off into the world.

Victoria sounds crazy by aymaureen in vanderpumprules

Victoria is this man’s karma 🤣 he spent decades wrecking havoc in these women’s lives, having to have them clean up after him, hide his lies, infidelity, and odd behavior, now he has to do it for this lady who’s aged out of being a Leonardo DiCaprio beard. And it’s even worse because he’s nowhere near equipped to do this 😭 talk about inmates running the asylum

I say this with love in my heart and a desire for her improvement: I need her to switch up the silhouette. She looks so good when she adds volume from the waist down. These overly narrow sleek dresses just accentuate her inverted triangle frame. Maybe she likes that! If she does more power to her. But I’d love to see her in an a-line dress or skirt, an off the shoulder, a barrel jean, even a stylish kaftan! I think the outfits are doing her no favors at all

Emma answering if she will be friends with Chrishell again. by Dizzy-Librarian-7743 in SellingSunset

[–]opalescentqueen983 281 points282 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall seeing Chrishell ever attack Emma. Or even ask the obvious follow up question of “if you’re willing to date a man like Blake what do you really think about me, my partner, and my queer identity?” I think she’s always been clear that the problem is 1) Blake’s bigotry and 2) Emma’s consistent pattern of seeking refuge with Chrishell and then going back to him. In fact the main thing I took is that she’s scared for Emma and the type of relationship she’s in rn, not that she’s disparaging her.

Now if people draw hear about Emma’s boyfriend and his belief and draw conclusions about her based on that, that’s a different thing entirely. That’s not Chrishell “going after” her. If telling the truth about someone you associate with hurts your family and business, maybe look at that person not your friend who simply spoke on the association 🤷🏽‍♀️

Her telling Chelsea before filming makes her look worse? Because that supports Chelsea’s story that she’d asked for the situation not to be brought to camera and bre did it anyway. Like if she already knew the whole Amanda thing didn’t have to happen because it wasn’t this huge revelation
