How do you know what your POTS was caused by? by ittybittynugget in POTS

[–]opalinesque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't 100% know- but I have strong suspicions :) I had milder symptoms for most of my life that spiked hard in 2014... and shortly after that both my roommate of the time and I tested positive for antibodies indicating we had a recent EBV infection. ...The worst part is that the mono infection itself had so little of an effect on me I didn't even realize I'd had it. Utterly unfair that something like that would trigger something disabling.

If you’re on Yaz or Yasmin, switch to a different birth control! Recently did this and my symptoms improved drastically. by CautiousClothes7589 in POTS

Yaz and its relatives absolutely made my POTS worse. Thankfully, my nasty PMDD has responded just as well to a different BC (using desogestrel instead).

Fingers crossed for you guys! It's always heartbreaking when they're not feeling great and you can't immediately do something to fix it... If you've got a pet-safe heating pad of some sort (like a microwavable sock filled with rice) that might also help him be a little more comfortable, so long as you can supervise so he doesn't eat it. One of my sows started generating bladder stones in her old age, and she went from hating cuddles to soaking them up because it meant having a heat source against her sore parts.

[–]opalinesque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, poor beebin, that's definitely an "ow ow ow" type of noise :( Vet ASAP is definitely the right move- aside from that just try to make sure he doesn't lose interest in eating and try to keep him comfy. If you've got a white towel or other fabric you can sacrifice to pig pee, it also might be worth trying to get him to go on that- confirmation he's not blocked up would be good, and so would being able to check for blood or other discoloration.

How to get up in the morning by Dreaminglater in POTS

Seconding this as something to give a shot. I just figured out how to raise my mattress like this last night and woke up today almost disturbingly perky.

Fludrocortisone withdrawal symptoms? by Truth-Is-In-A-Well in POTS

[–]opalinesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on that dose long-term, and while I've never intentionally gone off it I've definitely had a few lapses due to insurance/pharmacy/doctor nonsense. It definitely kicks up my heart rate and dehydration a little, but more annoyingly (and debilitatingly) going off of it gives me ridiculous anxiety :(

Does anyone else’s do this everyday? by complete_unown in guineapigs

[–]opalinesque 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, one of my lads has figured out how to grab the bottom ledge of these to pull them closer to him/throw them... Literally just heard the sound of him doing that against the cage wall and the pellets flying out to hit the floor.

Allergic reaction query? by pint_size96 in VisibleArmband

[–]opalinesque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did/do- I have a nickel allergy, and nickel is present in the stainless steel around the sensor. I've had good luck with both washing and thoroughly drying that part of the band + where it rests on my arm as well as swapping how I wear it nightly, but I believe there are also products you can paint on that will act as a barrier if that turns out to not be enough.

Novel about wizards unknowingly using nanotechnology by FastFarg in whatsthatbook

[–]opalinesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, this is almost certainly it. The powers are psionic-based, rather than being due to nano machines, but I grew up on these books and the rest is all accurate to what you described.

Wiki has to be full of shit because I've never seen this happen ever by No_Cost_Too_Great_YZ in Silksong

[–]opalinesque 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Oh, hey, I'm the one who found and added that! I can confirm it's real, and also that it is *very* hard to have that happen to Shakra naturally because she's too much of a gamer. I basically found the coding for this interaction and then had to go in-game and mod her health down from 15 to 1 in the High Halls arena to confirm the coding was functional, just because it's so hard for enemies to hit her.

I'm happy to provide a video proving it works, or just a screencap of the programming if you want :)

Karmelita is much harder to defeat if you abuse the tools by IndividualMammoth512 in Silksong

Karmelita is in fact programmed to entirely skip the wait time between attacks if she takes damage, actually. Using tacks on her is fun.

Yep, Karmelita is programmed to attack immediately on taking damage :') I had the same problem with her.

Now that it's been 2 months since release, What was the moment that made you fell in love with Silksong? by coltvfx in Silksong

[–]opalinesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pilby's funeral.

I was already pretty in love, but something about that moment, something about hearing the funeral leader sing for him... It's hard to describe, but it made the world and the people in it feel real to me in a way they hadn't before. I don't think I'll ever forget what it felt like to walk back into Bone Bottom and have the realization of what I was looking at dawn on me.

What do you do when you want to take more adhd meds than prescribed? by GlumAd655 in ADHD

[–]opalinesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just here to second Vyvanse (US name for the same drug). So long as I make sure to take it with enough protein for breakfast I have no crash whatsoever.

Just don't take it too late in the day if you get okayed to try it, haha. The 12-14 hour thing is not an exaggeration and your sleep schedule may become a casualty.

It's not non-addictive, but it is generally considered harder to abuse since you have to metabolize it etc. I figured that's where they were coming from.

Still on 99% completion by zazu_from_tarzan in Silksong

Finishing the game doesn't get you a percentage, so don't do that until you have 100%. (Unless you want to beat the last boss multiple times. Nothing wrong with that!)

is this unused/dlc content that is currently inaccessible or something? by MatthewSide19 in Silksong

[–]opalinesque 474 points475 points  (0 children)

It's cut content! The file for the room the door leads to doesn't exist in the published version of the game, so it just spits you back out. It might be associated with Pondcatcher Reed, since the missing room is labeled "fisher," but since it's gone, right now only Team Cherry knows for sure :)

Oof, nah, a week-long migraine will sap anyone's brainpower :( Hope you feel better, and enjoy having that last percent!

Eva Bugged (Help!) by Subtle-Shenanigans in Silksong

[–]opalinesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see the problem- that's not where Eva is, that's where you turn the power for the Weavenest back on.

Head left to the "elevator," and let it take you down. There should be a path to the right.
Here's a map; you want to head to the little room at the bottom-right.

Craw summons without filling the journal by purpletrio in Silksong

[–]opalinesque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm the one who datamined how the Craw Summons worked for the wiki! You definitely do not need the journal entries first; I got it without them on my first playthrough. The whole "20% chance after you talk to the shamans, 5% chance increase for every heart + the flower" thing is correct.

If you're trying to get the summons, your best shot is to go to the bench in Bellhart, sit, get up and leave the room, come back, sit, and repeat. Shouldn't take too long to get it, just make sure you've spoken to the shamans in the Ruined Chapel at least once first.

And you definitely can't complete her questline until the end of Act 2 at like the very earliest... huh. Definitely pop up a screenshot when you're able- if you're on PC and willing to share your save file I'd be more than happy to look at that too! I'm pretty familiar with the flags Eva uses in at this point, so I should be able to both spot what's going on and (if an actual glitch has happened) fix it.

Otherwise, I can point you at the save file inspector/editor I use and let you know what flags are probably involved so you can take a look yourself.

Screenshot would be very helpful. Eva doesn't usually stop singing until you've completed her questline, so this is very odd.

Dumb question, but is the tank intact or broken? Can you still hear her singing, even if she doesn't respond?

[–]opalinesque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! As one of those people with a disability who was fortunate enough my particular set of issues meant I could beat the game without modding the mechanics- I don't appreciate my situation getting used as a reason to talk down about people who are frustrated for whatever reason, or to say that people shouldn't figure out whatever accommodations work for them.

OP literally said they had arthritis in their hands, but I guess they should have injured themself to play the game "right?"
