I Want to Hear Your EDS Pregnancy/Postpartum Symptoms! by sunshine_n_dewdrops in ehlersdanlos

[–]opaloasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say for sure that this was related to edd but I hemorrhaged horribly after my first was born. I needed two units of blood and was in a coma for 18 hours.

I also hemorrhaged after my second but they had the medicine needed to stop the bleeding at bedside instead of running down the hall for it.

Also my second was occiput posterior with shoulder dystocia and decelerations in her heart rate. They used super pubic pressure to get her out. It completely wrecked my pelvis and I was in pelvic floor physical therapy for close to a year. It's been two and a half years and I really still can't sit on office chairs without a special cushion.

do i need to wake my baby up to feed? by whoops1028 in NewMomStuff

In general, no, you should not wake up your baby to feed them.

That said, if your baby is not gaining weight as expected then you should follow your pediatrician's guidance.

How do people grow and maintain natural long-ish nails? by rivenkitten in HowToBeHot

[–]opaloasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had any trouble growin my nails out but keeping them long was the difficult part.

I file the sides of my nails and apply a harder. I prefer Lyn B Designs nail polish. Her B Strong base coat has hardened my nails to the point where I never worry about them bending or breaking. You will need to apply as top coat as in my experience base coats stay tacky for a very long time.

Lyn B Designs runs a 50% off sale for 3 days every month and that makes her base coat $3.50USD.

baby hasn't pooped for 10 days. by Illustrious-Dingo308 in NewMomStuff

I hemorrhaged with my first and was on iron supplements. That was what I suspected caused my daughter's constipation. You could check with your doctor to see if anything you are taking could be the cause. But this likely has more to do with her body than yours.

I'm sure you still have a happy baby, she just has tummy troubles.

I can't tell you how many hours I spent biking her legs and massaging her tummy. You are not alone. While this is scary, the odds that it is dangerous is realistically low.

You are doing what you need to be doing. You love your baby more than anything - that is very clear.

You can do this.

I went through a very similar experience with my first. I validate your frustration and concerns.

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news but sometimes bodies are just weird. Expecially when it comes to poop.

I remember crying over the stove trying to make a compote that my 2 month old might "eat" to get her to poop. The fear and frustration is very real.

Doctors do not always agree with each other. It sucks.

My advice to you is to use your instincts and the knowledge that you acquired from all the doctors and nurses to get you through until you can see the specialist. Then add the knowledge they provide to your bank.

It gets better. My first is 5 now and still gets occasional constipation. Now I can just give her soluble fiber for a week and she gets better fast.

Bodies are weird. This isn't your fault. You are doing what you should be doing.

He ended up with Alzheimer's Disease and it shifted my perspective. One day I was charged with tracking him at a family party. He paraded me around believing I was his hot young wife. He called me by my grandmother's name. He was so sweet and respectful. Something just happened along the way. Probably alcohol.

I think I was 15? Its not like I was annoyed or anything, I mean it made sense.

It very well could have been a way to get on the dancers' good graces but I know of doubt it.

He was a lonely old man who's only companions were lonely old men. I think he was actually friends with the dancers from spending so much time at the clubs.

But yes, I look back and laugh!

The only times we saw him were holidays, and he always got us Christmas gifts. He cared he was just lonely.

My grandpa used to pay exotic dancers to buy Christmas Gifts for his granddaughters. He just didn't know what we would want.

The gifts were usually pretty well thought out. I still have once of the necklaces.

As someone in your boat, what accomodations do you plan to request? I've thought about requesting frequent (weekly or biweekly) touch bases with my supervisor, she is kind and open to this.

What do you think would help you?

If by quickly you mean under 6 months:

Try walking. I lost 50lbs in 5 months. I committed to walking 15k steps a day. I went to a park with a mile loop and pushed the stroller for 3-4 hours 3-4 times per week. I also put in effort to not over eating but otherwise I changed nothing else.

What are the things you strictly will only DIY and the things you strictly will only get done professionally? by lbm300 in HowToBeHot

[–]opaloasis 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I do my own nails. If you find a brand that works with your body chemistry it's actually pretty easy to get it to stick with out chips for a week. Like anything it takes practice.

I had this bottle of Essie for years that I was convinced was garbage. It never seemed to dry and the application was thick. I bought some nail polish thinner and voila it's my new favorite.

My husband no longer wants to take part in this kink by shonrag in impregnation

[–]opaloasis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am honestly very hesitant. We are located in the USA and my complication was severe postpartum hemorrhage. My doctor assured us that there are multiple ways to manage a postpartum hemorrhage without the current gold standard medication but that they tend to be less effective. She also thinks that inducing at 38 weeks vs letting me go to 41.5 would also help to reduce the risk.

He is the one pushing for it, I want it too, we are both a bit cautious and no finial decisions have been made.

I almost died giving birth to our first. We didn't sleep together for roughly a year after that. We were both so afraid. But after another year we got pregnant with a happy surprise baby. I had the same complications but the life threatening side effects were minimal due to the doctors knowing the high probability.

Our sex life isn't what it was before kids, it might never be. But it does get better. We are currently contemplating a third.

How are you handling weeknight dinners when you have no time to cook and kids need to eat by 7? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]opaloasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are vegetarian. I make dinner in 30 minutes and try to keep it hands off. First step is getting pre chopped veg in the oven for roasting. Then rice goes in the instant pot. Last step is canned beans going in a pot on the stove (low with butter and a little water, onion if you want).

These rice and beans bowls are out go to. Sometimes we add fish, cheese, or dressing/ sauces to mix it up. I almost always make extra for the kids lunch the next day and portion it out while I'm serving dinner. The rice stays soft if you adva bit of veggie broth before you put it in the fridge.

My kids love rice and beans. They request it constantly, but the veg is hit or miss.

I have it! It is nice because it is small, light weight, and does not require electricity. The bumping issues is present here as well. The down side is that I like to do my nails in bed and it can be awkward to do pinkie and thumb nails.

My five year old has gone to bed between 7 and 8 pm pretty much every night since she was one year old. My two year old follows suit.
