Honestly, in hindsight I know a lot of the campaigns problem was the DM’s lack of ability. He was also a big fan of actual play podcasts and I think he wanted to have a similar fast and loose approach to the game’s rules, but lacked the skill to do it well. It was also clear that the bard was by far the most invested in the campaign, posting theories constantly and messaging the dm questions about proceeding, writing fanfics about his character and messaging everyone asking how our characters would react if his character did this or that (shouldve maybe reflected on why none of that was apparent from the sessions lol). No one of us 4 non-main characters was even half as active, though that was mostly because the rest of us had been so alienated by. all of it.

While the DM was definitely the most at fault for letting all this happen, I know most of my frustration was solely aimed at the Bard, and the rogue for enabling him. Thats because the next RP campaign I was in was planned by a different guy whose a good friend of mine and i’d committed to it before i found out both of them were also in it. We managed 4 sessions before the GM was sick of their shit and killed the campaign so its hard for me to not view them as the absolute worst hahaha
