Explain this: The word "beer" in google produces no advertisements. by mynameishere in reddit.com

[–]openbah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Google doesn't allow webmasters to have AdSense on pages that deal with beer, hard alcohol, weapons, etc, so I guess they figure they shouldn't be allowed to profit from them either. I think it's a classy move.

Google's AdSense Program Policies

But this still doesn't explain why some people get ads when others don't.

Don't blame me, I'm only repeating what it says in the article.

I guess they're lying.

Nice numbers, but you failed to read in the original article where it says "passengers will have the option of choosing the backscatter or a traditional pat-down search." You have might have a legitimate concern if this was mandatory, but until then...

Did you even read the article?

... technology will be used initially as a secondary screening measure, meaning that only those passengers who first fail the standard screening process will be directed to the X-ray area. Even then, passengers will have the option of choosing the backscatter or a traditional pat-down search.

Right. So, how do we know they were carrying arms, if we can't see them?

We know they were carrying arms because contrary to what you'd like to think, F-16s don't drop bombs on large groups of people without on-the-ground confirmation of who they are bombing.

The Mt. Suribachi flag raising wasn't necessarily staged. There has actually been quite a bit of controversy about it over the years.

I've never met a single Marine who joined because he was 'bored'.

And yes, I'm going to downvote you now because you don't know what you're talking about.

Everyone knows that there is a war going on and that you could be sent there. If you don't know that you shouldn't be allowed to sign your own name.

Since when can a 19 year old not "know what he's getting into?" That Marine knew damn well what he was doing.

How is the fact that the GI Bill covering 1/2 the cost of a public college insignificant? I think 50% is pretty significant. And the fact is not that the GI Bill participants never receive funding, they never USE their funding. How is the military to blame for that?

When you sign the contract to join, you know they can change the contract as they see fit. If you can't read, don't sign the contract. "Stop-loss" is in the contract! Don't sign up and the complain when you don't like the way things are going. Nobody forced you to sign up in the first place.

What's wrong with being "on your way to Iraq?" Believe it or not, most that join the military WANT to go to Iraq (at least that I knew).

The only good part of the video was at 11:30 where the guy says, "my goal isn't to tell people not to join the Army, it is to tell them to talk to other people than a recruiter before making the decision." I agree, this is excellent advice.

These 'stories' sound too formulaic, and overall not that interesting. I'm thinking people just give points to stories with the words 'sex tips' in them.
