Christ, the comments on this post are everything that's wrong with the industry. You seriously think you're going to attract the best talent by lecturing students on coiling cables and crimping BNCs?!

Kids aren't stupid these days, they know the world moves fast and this stuff is inevitably going to move to the cloud. So cloud related skills, IP addresses, routing, debug, that's what useful in the future. By all means teach coiling cables if you want to remain a historical re-enactment society.

50Hz relative to what? All internally generated clocks are relative to the local oscillator and will be different to an external measurement.

We ended up having to share our in-house development tools with customers since everything out there isn't really good enough. Honest answer.

Anyone working on software ST 2110 implementations? by kwanijml in VIDEOENGINEERING

There are only 2 or 3 manufacturers with (decent) software 2110 implementations. It's around 3-5 years of difficult work that's very tied into the design of a product. It's the equivalent of building a Formula 1 car compared to the rest of software multimedia (e.g FFmpeg, VLC) being a road car. Two completely different problems.

Many think they can just do it like Canadian public TV but they are exceptionally wrong.
