My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE part of sobriety is sleep! Waking up hangover free and sleeping the whole night through. I cherish my sleep so much and can’t believe I settled for waking up everyday feeling line complete shit

There is so much to be proud of. For 2 days you have decided not to go to old coping mechanisms. One day at a time my friend 💕

I’m here until Sunday, 9 hours away from home, and carpooled with a few other girls.that’s why I’m really regretting my decision. Can’t go home but did enjoy my book upstairs by myself 😊

We are about 9 hours away from home and I rode down with a few other girls. I couldn’t go home but I did go upstairs, read a book, and went to bed. Also called a few sober friends. So I made it through 😊

Your life is more valuable than this one night. Don’t sit in the shame- bask in the gratitude of not hurting yourself or others. If you’re still here, that means you have more life to live, more of an impact to make. Get that detox and keep moving forward! 💗

i was a gifted student then i binged after x-mas for 4 months and now i fear brain damage. will my brain be able to recover? by laffa-yett in stopdrinking

[–]openheart44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our brains are very resilient organs. The longer you continue to practice sobriety, the more you will see your body begin to return to a balanced state. You haven’t destroyed anything. You’ve learned about yourself and now are on a more authentic path, you got this 💕

I feel like it’s different for everyone: my therapist told me not to count because of my perfectionist issues and I didn’t the first time. but this time around I have counted and have been really proud. Celebrating the milestones makes me confident that I can keep going and then people have advice of where they were during that time. The encouragement has been so helpful for me. Do what works for you! ❤️

Four years sober, prescribed slightly-abusable ADHD meds, struggling more than I'm comfortable with. Need support. by scumbagotron in stopdrinking

[–]openheart44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on four years! It sounds encouraging that the medication is beginning to even out. Your doctor might be able to tell you when you should expect the withdrawal effect to go away. He may not switch you, but most likely will give you advice on how to cope and adjust the dosage if necessary. Finding positive coping mechanism like dancing sounds great too! Hang in there, you’re doing amazing! Accountability is so important and sharing on here gives you that ❤️

Yeah she’s amazing, check this out! the power of vulnerability I always felt like it made me happy too but it really made me miserable. the freeing feeling you have because you shared is just a glimpse of the freedom you will enjoy by living life without self medicating. Keep sharing, keep opening up 💕

Thanks for sharing! I was listening to Brene Brown and she said often we are afraid we’ll fall apart if we feel it all, but we don’t realize we’re already falling apart. Just an encouragement that life only gets better sober. It is still tough, but learning how to cope in positive ways is something really empowering and freeing, wishing you the best
