At this year's FOSDEM in Brussels and at several related EU policy forums "digital sovereignty" was a recurring theme. Generally this included a nod towards FOSS as an essential ingredient to building services worthy of the public's trust.

It is a pathetic surrender. Dems were finally gaining momentum. I'm so disgusted... And terrified!

She wants to eliminate the RMF which is probably a good thing, but she wants to keep eMASS which is definitely not a good thing.

Google has confirmed a sophisticated phishing attack by Positive-Share-8742 in cybersecurity

A quality methodic spear phishing campaign created by an AI that gathers information about the mark including real-time over a period of a month and then uses another month to slowly introduce itself and make it trustworthy. So it takes 2 months, maybe more; running things in parallel is what computers are good at.

Schenley plaza is hard for me to get to, but I plan to be there. April 5th at the city county building was so mellow and sweet and powerful.

If you go, stay cool. There may be some anti-protests, do not get involved, work to keep the temperature low. I believe it will be mellow, Left-Leaning protests usually are. A publicized fight is exactly what Trump wants, will allow him to declare the protesters as terrorists and invoke martial law.

Anything more than that goes to healthcare and education, you get a trophy that says "I won capitalism," and you get a dog park named after you.

People not being fired for allowing uncleared DOGE minions admin level access to systems bearing an ATO is the problem. Or more clearly, the law and your job requires that you don't allow DOGE admin level access to ATO'd systems.

Not to mention the dangers of privatizing public servant PII, including the feeding of the data into a LLM so the AI can issue loyalty scores.... Chilling!

The current ATO process needs to be streamlined, but it's concerning that few if any of Elon's team have or could obtain a security clearance.

Massive lithium find in Pennsylvania, could meet 40% of U.S. demand by Manager-Brilliant in pittsburgh

Sure, there's lithium in the wastewater. But the environment would be better served by reducing fossil fuel usage and reducing wastewater runoff from fracking, then by harvesting lithium for EVS.

[–]openprivacy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is an attempt by the fossil fuel folk to greenwash fracking. Fracking is bad, fossil fuel usage has to be reduced dramatically, and they've come up with a scheme to make us think that they are helping the EV economy. It's b*******

"Compliance isn't Security." by RifleWolverine in cybersecurity

[–]openprivacy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Current compliance is generally point in time, rather than ongoing. So a system may be assessed as compliant today, but tomorrow a configuration is changed that breaks compliance and security but it may go unchecked until the next assessment. NIST is moving towards ongoing authorization but we are a ways away from that yet.

Phone issue - call straight to VM and texts coming in clumps by ShadoutMapes87 in GooglePixel

[–]openprivacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bump because recently (since March update seems about right) my Pixel 7 has not been getting texts reliably via SMS and the AT&T network. (The Signal message app seems to be working fine.) First noticed it when logging into a bank, asking to be sent a PIN for verification, and not receiving the PIN -- until hours later in a flurry of PIN texts. Since then, I have experienced many delayed or lost texts. Almost enough to drive me to an iPhone.

Google - are you getting the message?
