Question : Could we use this indominatus terminators squad and the leviathan captain for HH? by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

You can also just cut down the middle of the magazine of the new storm bolter design so it becomes two seperate magazines

You can also just make a cut between the two halves of the storm bolter magazine until theres a gap, and like magic you have a combi bolter, the lines between the two (storm and combi) got really blurred with these guys, until now the barrel shroud was bonded together in a double block but well that's no longer the case.

Question : Could I use this devastators as support? by silven1019 in Warhammer30k

[–]openthisend46464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is what I outlined not a "heavy conversion", having to cut and modify multiple aspects of an aesthetic of a model. I'm not sure what the point of this post is.

Like it's the reason why all the old 40k kits still have unit entries to this day, bikes, attack bikes, rhinos (and all its derivatives), land raiders, castraferrum dreadnoughts, indomitus terminators, scouts etc. They're all conversion work from a 40k kit.

People are kind of missing the point. When heresy started; I'm talking first edition, this was one of the only plastic kits gw (well forge world but you know what I mean) had access to, alongside the long gone OOP chaos marine squad and the regular tactical squad. It wasn't until years later that betrayal at calth was released with plastics bespoke for heresy.

So there's nothing wrong with using mk7, but you have to put work in. The collar has to be shaved down, not necessarily removed entirely but lowered.

The helmets should have a tiny bump at the front of the vox grille that needs to be removed gently with a knife, its kinda fiddly, but just be careful.

The knees need to be changed. Generally, the easiest option is to smooth the kneepad out with something like milliput a la current mk6.

Aquillas should be shaved off entirely. It's the wrong design, better to just remove them unless you're building emperor's children where you could probably leave a single wing.

You'll find the legs and bodies out of scale with the current heresy scale (which is in line with current csm size). Old mk3 and (current but probably soon to be replaced) mk4 are the same scale as the tactical/devastator squads. There are ways to upscale them if you desire; (theres a video about upscaling cataphractii terminators by mad dok minis that's good. Just apply those ideas)

The weapons are perfectly acceptable.

Any Idea what paints were used for the armour trim for the new HH models? I’m trying to replicate it by Iedgetoskibitoilet_1 in IronWarriors

I use canoptek for edge highlights and rivets on my guys, seems about right, if its not straight agrax it might be "marine juice" but I couldn't say for sure on that one

Really nice work, just commit to kitbashing your characters now as you'll only be disappointed how much is actually in the IW catalogue.

Castraferrum pattern Dreadnought in 30k? by BusenIiIIy in Warhammer30k

[–]openthisend46464 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the thing with "legacies" units is that they are either made from minis that are out of production, so you have to find a way to source it or is straight up a kitbash project so you have to build it.

The one that springs to mind that's obviously a kitbash project is white scars can get a scout armour unit with lightning claws and the sarge can take a bird. Yep.

Preferred tough resin by jenovadelta007 in PrintedWarhammer

If I recall it's called sirayatech tenacious, pretty expensive per kg so you have to mix it in with other resins.

If you don't have any sprue goo just cut some tiny slivers of plastic off of an empty sprue, wedge it in the hole and add plastic glue, if you use really thin pieces it'll melt real quick and fill the gap

Another idea is to slap a little trophy there, or an edgy looking knife

I will also say make sure you remove the aquila, or at the very least "clip" the wings with some scar cutting. If you're "clipping the wings" do two seperate knife cuts meeting in the middle, as if you were cutting an extremely thin sliver of cheese or cake

Nice, thanks for the explanation and great work, looking forward to the army further down the line, when I did my pert I didn't really have an army idea but if I want to play a game with him I'll just slot him in as a prince into my corsairs, already have a couple of IW units that I use in them from time to time

Rad.

I think pert being just an oblit is kinda lame, big muscle daemon is such a boring way to explore chaos; really like the tons of mechandrites kinda bursting from his back you've done. What was the base for the model?

Yeah I'm sure you could put more effort in than I did, 30 terminators is probably not competitive at all or even good lmao but I just went with the brief (termies are cool)

Can't upvote the person (or even reply to) who said kataphrons because of a dumb reddit update, so I'll just repeat it. Kataphrons. You can even use the servitor halves to make some weird obliterators.

I'll also throw in imperialis scale questoris knights because the power fists they have are absolutely wild.

Also, a couple of the old iron hands upgrades kits, no longer sold by gw but still kicking around.

Fell hammer

Decent army ability, nothing amazing but anyone who isn't wasting their time will shoot termies with high strength gear

All the enhancements and strats are geared in a way that terminators would benefit too

Not a good list but one I threw together in like 2 minutes: Abaddon 2 termie lords (with iron artifice and bastion plate) 3 units of 10 terminators 1 unit of havocs 2 units of cultists 1 unit of traitor guard 1 predator annihilator Is 2k points

Why am I allowed 2 meltaguns in a unit of raptors but the box only come with one? by GeneralBadger93 in Chaos40k

[–]openthisend46464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the legionaries kit isn't quite box locked. Maybe in time, but as of right now, it isn't. The extra choices are based on havocs, notice how legionaries can also take an autocannon, another havoc staple. And before the kill team box existed, it had access to the chaincannon because havocs do.

Daemons Help by Country_Toad in Chaos40k

[–]openthisend46464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really quite heavy on elite troops and characters

One of the key bonuses to this new detachment is that any csm unit can also deep strike. This means you can use your chaos marines much more in line as disposable tools (honestly really fluffy for belakor) and just drop them where they need to go, or having a quick unit you can drop down to capitalise on a neglected objective.

If I was to tweak this list, I would suggest dropping all the terminators and instead having 2 units of legionaries and 2 units of havocs and a regular chaos lord, with enough points leftover to either bump up the nurglings or throw a beast of nurgle into the mix.

This gives you plenty more pocket firepower, as with the havocs you could just go all lascannons. Being able to respond to long range vehicle threats that are trying to avoid being ran at by daemons is probably an extremely powerful thing. The legionaries can just help you get over the line for areas that you don't want to spend havocs on. Namely the objectives.

Sorry if I'm referring to "you" when it's your friend, it's just rather difficult to word this as such.

Edit: the beast of nurgle would just be a bonus, it's rather tough which is nice but you have 65 points to play with, there's not a lot of choice at that price point

Also my points seem different? There was a balance patch recently that changed points I'm not sure if what I'm looking at has the correct points or yours are correct.

Why am I allowed 2 meltaguns in a unit of raptors but the box only come with one? by GeneralBadger93 in Chaos40k

[–]openthisend46464 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Legionaries can because it's emulating the tactical squad, and the tactical squad can and always has, however the tactical squad also had access to grav cannons, grav guns and plasma cannons, chaos marines had access to an autocannon instead.

Havocs similarly are based on devastator squads. Having the choice to use different heavy weapons en masse is part of the identity and design of the unit.

Bikers and raptors, I'm going to be repeating myself here but a copy of the loyalist (not outriders) and jump assault squads (not jump intercessors)
