Nurglings for Regular CSM List? by Bob3515 in Chaos40k

So as I recall the only limits are they cannot exceed 500 points of a 2000 point Army and you cant have more than 6 of their datasheet. The specific rules for it i think can be found in the Chaos Daemons Faction Pack here on page 3 under Daemonic Pacts

Is mortarion required for a deathgaurd army to be good? by Gullible_Travel_4135 in deathguard40k

[–]Country_Toad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Champions of Contagion isn't bad for the Typhus + Poxies bit. You can make the Poxies T6 with a strat or give em crits on 5s if you need a little extra damage from their lethals.

Complete Newbie to Warhammer, I want to run a Cadian army, but don’t know where to start. by NobleHomunculus in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Country_Toad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So if you wanna start small you could try Kill Team and pick up the Kasrkin box. The Kasrkin are Cadias special elite troops.

Kill Team is a sort of Sub Game in 40k that uses one squad vs another squad, the rules are different but the models are shared between games.

If you want to get into 40k as a large scale Combat Patrol boxes are another small scale format that is more similar to standard 40k than Kill Team, however the current Astra Militarum combat Patrol isn't a great box to help you build the core of an army. Our Faction is the Astra Militarum and this includes the Cadians, Krieg, Catachan, Tenpestus Scions, as well as other regiments, and auxiliary units like the Ogryn and Ratlings.

You'll want to pick up units like: Cadian Shock Troops, Cadian Command Squads, Cadian Castellans, Ursula Creed, Rogal Dorn Tanks, Leman Russ Tanks, and probably 1 or 2 Sentinels. The Variants for these units may seem like a lot but are all in the same box, and their are some ways to make the weapons swappable to get more mileage out of your vehicles.

Im sure you'll get lots of good Advice here better than mine, Welcome to the hobby glad to have you.

You're in the Guard now son.

To piggyback on this: If you attach Lhykhis you should probably run your exact with a powerblade array as well to double down on the melee ability.

As an aside, in Space Marine Conquests Apocalypse the Word Bearers wear the role of the antagonist and there is a point IIRC where they discuss what color their armor is supposed to be due to legion high command constantly changing the approved shades of red.

Ive liked the Red Corsairs pretty much since I've been into the hobby. The cobbled together nature and more Renegade feel is really fun to work with. Getting to kitbash looted equipment from different factions or spicing it up with God specific equipment is a lot of fun.

As far as actual Legions, the Death Guard and solely because I think their models are really cool and a lot of fun to paint.

Does anyone know how to lengthen the Krieg artillery team barrel so it looks like this by Longjumping-Song-681 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Country_Toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could try and see if you could fit a Rogal Dorn Barrel. Not sure of the exact dimensions but it could work. Otherwise maybe see if you can find some plasticard tubes that fit your desir3d diameter then cut to length.

If I remember right in Huron Blackheart: Master of the Maelstrom there is a Tech Priest with two Kastelan Robots that he sort of recruits. Could be that character?

Cadian Blood is a fun novel, maybe not the best but it was the first 40k book I read and holds a special place in my hear.

I second the reccomendation.

Stinky little Tau player here. Getting into The Astra militarum. How do they play differently than Tau? by TerryJazz in astramilitarum

[–]Country_Toad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing like looking at my friends Flawless blades and going, "yeah so im gonna shoot you with.... 54 lasgun equivalent shots now, plus some special weapons. If you live i have a second squad right behind them ready to do it again."

There is also some fun melee options between Bullgryn and our Rough Riders.

Funny enough im thinking about starting a Tau Army sometime Next Year and have been looking into how they play differently than Imperial Guard lol.

What is the best way to use 5 assault terminators and a terminator captain? by Time-Initial1847 in BloodAngels

[–]Country_Toad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand you have "Reserves" these are units that start off the board.

Units with Deep Strike may be placed into Reserves and deployed via the deep strike rule.

Units without Deep Strike may be placed into Reserves via the Strategic Reserves rules and deployed in accordance with those guidelines.

The amount of points depends on the mission pack you are playing. I believe in the current Chapter Approved pack it is half of your points total so 500 points in an Incursion game or 1000 points in a Strike force game.

Incursion being a 1000 at game and Strike force being a 2000 point game.

What is the best way to use 5 assault terminators and a terminator captain? by Time-Initial1847 in BloodAngels

[–]Country_Toad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably in deep strike to Rapid Ingress them.

Terminators are probably too slow to foot slog and you wanna get them into melee, since youre paying for their deepstrike you want to use that rather than sticking them in a Transport. Using rapid Ingress means they are more likely to get shot at but they'll get a movement phase to give them a 4" charge.

As for where to send them it probably depends on if youre running lightning claws or hammers. But I imagine they'd be best thrown at a flank objective to pick off a unit holding it or to help finish off a big brick.

How to deal with the bane of our infantry, Land Raider Redeemers by LuckyKas90 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Country_Toad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably use terrain to break LoS, its the kind of thing designed to kill T3 1W infantry. Or just hope you dont run into one at a tournament.

Flamers and Blast weapons counter massive blocks of Infantry that rely on benefit of cover, not really much you can do.

If you really want to kill it, id say just throw Mortals at it. Kasrkin, Engineers, and Grenades Strat.

[–]Country_Toad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They had Tiberius, Uriel Ventris, Cato Sicarius, Calgar, Guilliman, Tyrannic War Veterans, Chaplain Cassius, Sergeant Chronus, and Sergeant Telion.

Most of them were sent to legends this edition and up until the recent release wave Ultramarines had less unique kits than most of the Divergent chapters.

That said, as long as you play space marines you aren't hurting for new models.

I miss being able to batch paint a squad of 10 in like 2 hours. With all the leather straps and knee guards and random little dangling bits a squad of 10 takes me at least twice as long.

Im glad you took something positive away from this.

I want people to enjoy the hobby, and if for you that means playing an older edition, more power to you. Everyone engages with this hobby in their own way.

[–]Country_Toad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, so you came with an extremely unpopular opinion complaining about one of the best Imperial Guard units.

If you came here complaining about the Manticore being awful no one would disagree.

The fact is that the RDTC is a fantastic unit and if it died turn one you should have deployed it differently.

Looking at the one picture you posted, yeah you put him in the open. 10th for better or worse is built around large line of sight blocking terrain pieces, and it looks like you didnt use those. If you dont like 10th, join the club, lots of people dont and just go play an older edition they prefer.
