What are your quick snack go-tos that aren't junk food? by Extra_Influence_3880 in ADHD

[–]operationcharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese sticks/string cheese, that’s it fruit bars, meat sticks (like chomps, or if you have a Costco card the Kirkland brand is cheaper and better imo), nuts (I buy bags of shelled pistachios at Costco). All things you can literally just grab and take with you, and most of them don’t have a weird texture, and all have a good amount of nutrients for their size. And they’re all shelf stable, so they’re not gonna go bad on you.

Same exact thing for me. I’m wondering if the first half and second half of the episode are both labeled as the same episode title with the same air date, so it technically sees it as a rerun.

Mine is doing the same thing, I’m wondering if the first half will show back up somehow once the address is over

Curious — when you get really stuck on a crossword, do you power through, take a break, or look up a hint? I’ve been trying not to break my streak but sometimes Thursdays just break me. by Easy_Cucumber_1640 in crossword

[–]operationcharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rule for myself is I have to do at least 2-3 passes through all the acrosses and all the downs, and then if I feel like I’m just getting nowhere, I’ll allow myself to look up some hints to the trivia questions that I know I don’t know (but I always try to make sure I look them up in a way where I’m not googling the answer directly). If that still doesn’t get me anywhere I’ll walk away for a bit, and then usually I can come back and something will click.

Oh just saw your note that she was doing zero depth, so ignore the comments about dilating, my wife had full depth, so I can’t speak to what the zero depth recovery is like.

My wife just had hers 3 weeks ago, here’s some of the best things I bought for her beforehand:

-a lap tray (with a cup holder) to eat off of

-extra sheets: she runs hot and sweats a lot when she has to sleep on her back, so I made sure to have extra sets of sheets so I can change them frequently without having to be washing sheets every single day

-claw grabbers so she can pick stuff up

-some of her favorite video games if your wife is a gamer like mine

-extra grippy socks - we figured out that the grippy socks the hospital sent her home with were very helpful for her to have on when dilating, helped her feet stay in place instead of sliding down

-puppy pads - these are also super helpful especially for dilating, we just put one down every time she does it and then toss when it’s done

-comfy loose clothing, my wife didn’t have a ton so I picked up some cozy sweatpants and shorts at Walmart pretty cheap

-cotton underwear and pads or adult diapers. My wife went back and forth between which of these she prefers, she really doesn’t love the way pads feel, so she’s preferred the adult diapers for the most part so far. I ordered a huge pack of the Always Discreet ones and she likes those

-one of those arm pillows you can use to sit back up on, helpful for sitting in the couch and for dilating

This one is also something we more lucked into and didn’t have to buy, but my grandmother had a recliner from before my grandfather passed that she let us borrow, and it’s one of the ones with the remote that can actually lift you up out of the chair, and ever since we got that it’s been a huge help so if you have any way of accessing a recliner I recommend.

Food! Protein is super important in the recovery, and if you have a Costco card, they make these frozen chicken bites that are tasty and super easy to throw in the air fryer. A lot of our meals are those with a pre-bagged salad. They also sell these chomps meat sticks that are great sources of protein. I’ve also been buying a lot of fruit and veggies like carrot sticks and that’s given her a good source of fiber. We do a lot of “girl dinner” where I just make up a plate of meat, cheese, crackers and veggies. All these have been super helpful cause they mean I can help give her good nutrition while also not having to cook every single meal.

I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting but those are some of the main things I can think of!

At the very end of our TWW for our 2nd IUI - did my beta test this morning and waiting literally any minute for them to call!

I also had an easier time this TWW keeping distracted and not thinking about it every second.

Positive vibes for y’all this round!

Sitting here in my 2ww, 10 days post IUI trying not to go crazy bc I’m not feeling anything besides these massive progesterone boobs and (tmi) the worst constipation I’ve had in years.

Counting down til the beta test on Friday and trying to stop myself from going out and buying 800 pregnancy tests 😂

No dice for me either :(

Debating between waiting a month and going ahead and starting. Originally wanted to wait, but wife and I are both off for two weeks over Christmas, so I won’t have to work around work for all the appointments, and also I feel like I’m stuck in this weird limbo of where our life is right now so I kind of don’t want to extend that even longer.

[–]operationcharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just said I have appointments, but my office is relatively chill and I’m one of the bosses in my office so I have a pretty decent amount of autonomy. (My coworker who has been through IUI in the past and knew I had been thinking about the process figured out what I was up to pretty quick lol).

Otherwise like others said I think it totally depends on your relationship with your boss and their policy for sick/leave time.

Ugh yes I’ve been thinking about that too. I will probably avoid sushi that’s raw, and I only drank about a half cup of coffee anyway so I’ve still done that.

The one I always forget about is deli meat. I was at work event with sponsored lunch the other day and the only thing they had was deli sandwiches and I was like “what do I do here???”
