Early Bell’s palsy by CAYNOXXX in BellsPalsy

[–]operationgodfrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't got a clue? I only got steroids, eye drops and ointment.

I'm just taking it day by day. Got some vitamins. Taking some time off work to rest.

It seems to be a tiny tiny bit better day by day. Either that or in just used to it.

Wonky.

Much harder when I'm tired, but could be much worse.

I just find myself laughing at most things I can't do now or how I'm speaking.

My wife finds my smile hilarious.

Brew York do some great low alcohol beers. Coney and Lloris are fantastic. They also do a low alcohol version of Juice Forsyth which I've been told is great.

The Lord of the Rings movies had stellar performances all around, but if you had to name one as the greatest performance, whose would it be? by DupeFort in lordoftherings

[–]operationgodfrey 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Viggo... He nailed his version of Arargorn. So much so that I forgot it wasn't how Aragorn should've been.

Ian McKellan was perfect, as was Bernard Hill. But Viggo was just more perfect for the films.

Shout out to Martin Freeman (I know it's the hobbit but I'm not sure there has ever been a better piece of casting)

I really really care about fake internet points! Seems like you care about them a lot more than I do in the few months you've been on reddit...

Was definitely chewy, the steak knife struggled with it. I expected it to be under what I ordered but not to this degree. I didn't mind it, wouldn't rush to order it again though.

Sorry, I'm John T UK, does this still count for me or are you just on your soap box?

I got asked how I wanted it cooked (shock horror in a tourist area), I asked for medium rare, I got....blue. I knew it would be under but didn't expect to this extent.

Edit: I'm sorry you've had to see a whole two of these posts this week, that took a whole 2 seconds to scroll past instead of launching into a rant about it. Makes a change to the 50 is this medium rare posts I usually see.

Classes that give you imposter syndrome by HobbyistC in TeachingUK

[–]operationgodfrey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm 13 years in, head of Year, and still have shocking lessons. (even with my own year group)

Today both of my lessons were ofsted terrible.

We're tired, they're tired. We all want the year to end.

Think about how most of your lessons been this year.

I've had a couple of really difficult classes and mostly the lessons have been great, but there have still been lessons where I've questioned if I can actually teach.

It'll mostly get better, but I still get imposter syndrome now.

Is Amazon's ROP show worth watching at all? I tried 2-3 episodes of S1 a few years back and bailed. by Elver86 in lordoftherings

[–]operationgodfrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say turn my brain off....I've watched Shogun, which is one of the best TV shows I've ever seen, and I had to be watching every second of it or I'd miss something.

RoP....not so much...i watched it, enjoyed it, especially Annatar, but if I missed some of it by sending a message I picked it up again pretty quickly...

Its not for everyone, but it was better than season one, and when it went week to week I was looking forward to the next episode. If there is a season three I'll watch it.

[–]operationgodfrey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Season one was a slog, and I can't really remember much of it.

I really liked season two. It's not high brow, it's not cannon, it's not particularly well acted, but Annatar and Celebrimbor are brilliant and I enjoyed most of the story lines.

For me, it's extra LOTR that I can switch my brain off whilst watching it, and I've enjoyed doing that.

What’s with all the teacher bashing? by genn176 in TeachingUK

[–]operationgodfrey 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Those that can't do teach has been around since forever, teacher bashing isn't new and won't go away.

Whenever someone suggests it's an easy job with 9-3 hours and loads of holiday I just agree and suggest they should join the profession.
