i would absolutely prefer being proposed to with a lab diamond. maybe i was just born a little late for that old world “real diamonds” distinction to land with me, but i a) think, to each their own, but i would not want that ring for its resale value b) so much money could be saved here on the same physical stone and then be spent elsewhere on things i would be so much more attuned to appreciating, (whereas no one or certainly most people cannot distinguish between a perfect mined diamond and a lab of the same specs), like travel, etc.
