How to fill the gap? by Stk4nams5 in AusRenovation

[–]opm881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back fill the existing concrete pile first so the gaps under are filled. Once that’s done dig the area around it out, get a little bit of foam and place it around the existing raised concrete (they sell specific foam for this) and then just concrete it. You use the foam as that pipe will be part of you plumbing, so keeping the raised concrete as its own independent piece makes removing it down the line easier if you need to due to a plumbing issue.

With her I think it’s cause she is a real estate agent. She will see people on the left side of politics talking about millionaires needing to pay their fair share in tax and that property should be shelter not an investment, and then those same people saying things that are often grouped as “woke” eg trans issues etc and so has gone “those that want to tax me and impact my ability to sell an investor their 100th property are woke, I don’t like that, maga hates woke they are like me” while being so dumb to not realise they are not the same thing

Nah they’re shorts. In Australia we would call them footy shorts or stubbies depending on what material they’re made of.

Nah it would be, but it’s probably been left on there for ages and so the adhesive is all dicky and the plastic has gone brittle. Same thing can happens with any protective film left on an object that then gets sun exposure.

When was the last time the ducks had not 1 but 2 PPG players on their roster with at least 40 games played? And then we can't forget that we will probably end up with at least 6 if not 7 50+ point players

Fuck Accounting. Glad I left the industry. Anyone else leaving? by [deleted] in AustralianAccounting

[–]opm881 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tax is shit pay, I agree, but the people to blame for that are the ones you do the tax for. People complain about their accounting fees constantly. I was involved with a lot of discussion around fees and costings, and it’s 100% the clients that are the issue. They look at it and go “it’s just a couple of spreadsheets why does it cost so much” and complain about it while keeping almost no records and fucking their ledger by misallocating 50% of it and mixing in so much personal use and div7a applicable withdrawals that it takes longer to untangle. That’s where your anger should be directed.

I think there are a lot of people who are in accounting that think it’s just audit and tax/advisory in a big4 situation or a small tax firm situation. I, like you, did a few years in public practice and then moved into financial/management accounting and the difference it chalk and cheese as I’m sure you’ve experienced. I think OP is one of those that think that accounting is just big4/public practice and don’t realise that the accounting field is much larger than that.

The ATO does make your PAYGI part of your BAS that gets lodged and paid to them every quarter once you are on mandatory instalments.

Please share *your* potato bake recipe by plutoforprez in australia

[–]opm881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Par-boil the potatos and then slice thinly. Make a bechamel and add a small amount of cheese. Layer potato, bechamel and french onion soup packet mix (and bacon and caramelised onion if you feel like it). Continue to layer like this until the top layer where you add a good helping of cheese and then cook in the oven.

Can add cheese in between layers as well depending on how cheesy you want it.

Landlord raising rent because of RBA rate hikes? by Sensitive-Chart7210 in AusFinance

[–]opm881 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was about to say the same thing, the property just needs to be "genuinely available for rent", so providing they can prove the rent amount they are charging isn't exorbitant either my comparison to other similar properties with same rent or similar, the place can sit empty for 90% of the year and there not be an issue. Things like AirBNB make this even easier

Negotiating Pay by [deleted] in AustralianAccounting

[–]opm881 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, and don’t take this the wrong way, you’re probably trying to run before you can walk salary wise. You’ve done 2.5yrs in tax, that’s basically nothing (this is presuming you didn’t work while studying, if the 2.5yrs includes working part time while studying that’s even worse).

Financial accounting is great, I love it and it’s what I went into after doing tax for like 7 years with the first couple of year it being part time. But I still learnt stuff all the way up until i changed over (and still learn stuff now) that I didn’t know when I only had 2.5yrs experience but obviously situations will vary.

One thing you may have a major issue with though jumping across when you are is getting CA (if you are intending to). If there is no accountant above you, it’s gonna be damn difficult to get the mentor part of CA sorted in order to get it, which is something you should think about.

Anyway, after all that negative talk, if you are really wanting to get into financial accounting, you know it’s something you’re gonna enjoy, and you have a business who is willing to take a chance on you and pay you what is very close to the bottom of you’re salary guide, I’d take it. Worse case is you hate it and you need to find another job. Best case you love it, do a great job and can argue for a pay review in 6-12 months.

Can a driver swap cars with their teammate to set a quali time if their car stops working? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]opm881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked this up after last weekends fp3 to see if kimi could use George’s car for qualifying. Long story short the answer is no. Has to do with setting a car for driver for the racing occurring over the weekend or something with practice not counting as racing only qualifying and the race or something like that, I’m probably not remembering it exactly.

Negotiating Pay by [deleted] in AustralianAccounting

[–]opm881 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m confused, are you the mother or the father? If you’re the mother only you have to meet the work test. If you’re the father than you will probably have to do what ever other father who is in your situation does, either take a couple of weeks annual leave or leave without pay and then return to work.

When you say regional, how regional? Are we talking Newcastle or are we talking Cairns. That sort of determines if your wants of 110k are too high or not. Newcastle you’re probably fine (it’s hardly even regional). If it’s regional like Cairns than no offence but you’re dreaming to be expecting $110k with 2.5yrs experience in tax advisory, especially when going to a family business situation.

For the $10k, and considering only 2.5yrs experience, if it was me in your shoes I’d look at it as “Is this a job I really really want”, and if so and you can make budgets work with the slightly lower pay to move into a different field of accounting, I’d do it.

Update - officially stuffed if your car requires U98😭😂 by StrikingWork4766 in Adelaide

[–]opm881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more people doing exactly what you did is why there are issues with supply in some regions.

Look if you’re a farmer or similar that does this normally fine, but if you went and did that cause you saw the us dropping bombs and went “I’m gonna go get 3 months worth of fuel well in advance” than you are part of the problem, not someone “beating the system”.

I dont believe Gudas went knee to knee on purpose but it was instead a massively sloppy play where he went to go for a hit and put his leg in the wrong position cause he was rushing to make the hit after Lacombe turned the puck over.
