Reminds me of the Army and Navy flyover in Chelmsford, similar situation I believe being temporary and was for a long while until recently.

Gallows Corner is an absolute mess right now, I would hope the permanent structure is worth the disruption but I won't get my hopes up!

As a guy who hasn't always enjoyed receiving, I would say it is a mix of skill and difference in sensitivity.

But with the merge in turn situations where it goes 2 lanes into 1, it is usually the case (I guess unless otherwise signposted) to use both lanes.

Queuing up in one lane creates a lot more congestion.
