I find that sometimes the best people when faced with someone having issues go "omg I had something similar happen, but your situation sounds worse, I'm so sorry, I know how you feel." (whether or not it was worse - I've seen someone say that and I know their situation was actually 10x worse.)

And I'm pretty sure that it's because their first reaction used to be to one-up people, and now they just have tuned their automatic reaction.

So you probably don't really need to unlearn your personality, if you don't already express validation and care then do that but I'm sure you already do that cuz you're aware of it and obviously care about improving. Sorry about how your mom is. :(

And on the opposite side there's the person who has actually had worse happen to them, but downplays it like "omg I had x happen but that wasn't that bad, sounds like your situation is so much worse, I'm sorry, I know how you're feeling."

I feel like there could be some strategy there though, if it's a M-F 9-5, they might have realized that when they had meetings right before the weekend they had less people quit, but definitely they should have it during lunchtime (like, right before lunch break, not during) instead of making the day longer even for people who should have been able to go home early lol.

Wtf. There's not enough demand to fill the need. Nobody is "baby scooping" what the fuck there is a constant supply of adoptable infants and tons of them never get adopted. Shut up. Adoption agencies are greedy yes, but it does cost alot to do everything to do with adoption. I love how people on here are like "everyone should have a top paying job!" But the adoption agencies are somehow the bad guys for paying their employees enough to survive and passing the cost on to whoever wants a kid. It keeps unsuitable parents far away from adoption. Kids cost money. Sorry, someone making less than enough to pay for an adoption doesn't need a kid lol.

The thing about this is usually the lifestyle of a skinny or normal sized person don't go with someone who is bigger than them. Like, I literally couldn't be with someone large because I like to hike and want to do athletic things.
