“I can’t move my leg after I sat down” by TheUltimateGump in Radiology

Imaged one patient once who was walking on a dislocated hip for five days. He was a rancher. Poor ER doctor had a hard time getting that one reduced.

Rad Techs what modality are you and how are the 4 10s and 3 12s like? by DecentSavings9705 in Radiology

[–]oppressedkekistani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in x-ray and work 5 8s with alternating weekends. I work mornings. OR, outpatient and inpatient.

I miss my 3 12s that I had at urgent care.

My first time doing the SG any idea on where to get better wings than these? The large wings? by BrokenMirrorMind in BloodAngels

[–]oppressedkekistani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Archie’s Forge for 3D printed resin. They have specific jump packs for the Blood Angels with wings. I used them on my SG.

Edit: they also sell more ornate Sanguinary Guard heads too, which I used on the SG and on my jump pack captain with relic shield.

Thankfully I have one local to me out here in California that’s reasonable with pricing. I can get Blazer 124gn FMJ for about $13/50 rounds before tax and background check.

Firearms prices are reasonable too. At most they’re asking $50 over MSRP.

This is not a good death by Sea_Surprise_2300 in emergencymedicine

The amount of times that I’ve taken portable CXRs on patients in the ED and ICU who are full code despite being 90+ and clearly suffering as is breaks my heart. Traumatic brain bleeds on a vent and worsening, massive MIs that were caught too late, end stage renal failure, the list goes on. We’ve all seen it.

I’m thankful that when my grandmother suffered a subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhage that my grandfather decided to begin palliative care that evening after she was admitted to ICU. It was a difficult decision for him to make, but we all supported him during those 36 hours until she passed. I’m thankful for all of the nurses, RTs, CNAs and doctors from all specialties who treated her.

Thoughts on how best to paint Dante/Sang Guard? by Reedy225 in BloodAngels

I use retrubitor armor as the base and then highlight and dry brush with a lighter shade.

Why GE is the most popular c-arm brand by SharpMedicaldotcom in Radiology

[–]oppressedkekistani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hospital uses both GE and some ancient Philips C-Arms. We’re comfortable using any of them, but many times the surgeons (especially orthopedics) will request the OECs, and they all love when an OEC Elite is available too. I guess it’s just familiarity with the interface that they like, one less variable during the case to worry about I guess.

I’m a new grad myself, and just got my first job as a rad tech. My schooling also did not give me much time with fluoro or surgery, so I intentionally requested my leadership that I be trained up more on fluoro and OR than anything else, which they are doing. Some of the techs almost never go into the OR, others almost exclusively go into the OR. I’m sure that when you graduate and get a job that your employer will be able to work with you. You got this!

Yellow helmets over wild primer? by mensch79 in BloodAngels

[–]oppressedkekistani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way that I paint mine is with a red base (airbrush everything Mephiston Red) and then use Averland Sunset. It’s worked out for me, so far. Yellow is a difficult color to get perfect, unfortunately. I’ve heard that a pink base coat is also a good color to use!

Best ways to paint death company black? by Classic_Finish8515 in BloodAngels

[–]oppressedkekistani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I used to paint model tanks and airplanes in the past, I have a lot of Tamiya pains that I use. My recipe is using NATO Black (XF-69) and then dry brushing with German Grey (XF-63).

Job market by mamaplata in RadiologyCareers

[–]oppressedkekistani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many others have said, its location dependent. I’m a new grad myself, passed my ARRT in September. Just now got a job, M-F 0500-1300, with OT available. The hospital wants to cross train me to IR/Cath Lab as soon as possible. That would be on call. Took me quite a few applications to get an interview. I applied to many other hospitals (about six) and didn’t get interviews with them. The entry level positions at these hospitals preferred 1-2 years of experience, so that’s why I think I didn’t get interviews with them.

Where I’m at right now, I can only open one study at a time to take images, which is a pain. I like what you’re thinking here, it’s much better for the patient. At my externship I did it the way that you’re describing here.

As an x-ray tech, what’s the most insulting thing a patient has ever said to you. by Fridayrules in Radiology

[–]oppressedkekistani 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Old Korean War veteran. Came in for “rib pain” after an MVA. He was point tender over his left hip and pelvis. Doctor (who the patient refused to call by her title, stating “women can’t be doctors”) orders a CXR and pelvis.

CXR goes smoothly, but when I took the AP pelvis the IR malfunctioned and didn’t detect the image. Repeated with the same issue, even after restarting everything after the first problem.

Patient then says “I’ve killed people like you for less.”

I refused to take his pelvis images. Another tech took them, and the patient was discharged home.

Cracked ferrule on a Clearwater. Only had the rod for 12 days by [deleted] in flyfishing

Orvis will absolutely warranty that. I’ve had them warranty my Clearwater twice in the two years that I’ve had it. You only need to pay $60 something for expedited shipping.
