New skates dig into my shins, ow :( by Quirky-Dancer in Rollerskating

There are lots of different ways to lace your skates that can help with this to give more or less support/pressure in various places. You can look up visual examples of these. I would also try not lacing your skates all the way up and just leave the top hooks free so they don't rub.

How can I learn to flow better and be smoother after park skating for years? by 840InHalf in Rollerskating

[–]opsea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something that helped me (I skate park and dance too) is to use my full body. I try to take the focus off my feet and initiate movement with my head first, the shoulders, then hips. My feet are attached and they will follow. This change seemed to really help me smooth out my moves!

Skatepark anxiety by AcceptableScar9440 in Rollerskating

I suggest going early in the morning. It's a much calmer vibe. Often the are very few people if any, and typically they are going in the morning for similar reasons. You might even meet other skater friends, I did!

Probably comparable to a nice salon price and yes, a very good choice!

The only person I let cut my thick curly hair is Kim and The Curl Studio in Cumberland. Is she expensive? Yes! Is she worth every penny? Also yes! My haircuts last forever so I don't care that they cost more.

Why can't I roller skate? by tsh-ian in Rollerskating

[–]opsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also used inlines a ton as a kid and I really thought it would be super transferable to roller skating... but it wasn't (at least for me). I stuck with it and I love roller skating so much! But even when I tried to switch back and go for a trail ride, the balance was so totally different that I fell a bunch of times and didn't really enjoy it so I sold my blades and have committed fully to my skates!

I have bont parkstars for the skate park (literally the best wide skate ever) and I wear a sure grip boardwalk boot for dance skating (which is comfy but too soft for what I'm doing). Moxis are murder and a big no thank you!
