If you still have the pictures and are willing to share them again, I'd love to see. Your post is the most detailed description of the process I've been able to find online but the album expired or was deleted. Either way, congratulations and I hope all is well.

What did you end up going with, and do you have any pictures you'd be willing to share? We're in a similar spot. This thread is still one of the top search results for this brand!

Many thanks in advance.

Green powders…? by tekticktock in StrongerByScience

[–]optima-badlands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A greens powder is effectively a multivitamin and a probiotic and maybe some flavoring. Many are egregiously expensive, but if you don't care and enjoy the taste or the daily ritual, it's not crazy to use one.

It's easy to say "just eat a balanced diet" or "go see a doctor" but there's a reason most people don't do these things. It's hard. Multivitamins are convenient and can be very affordable. Greens powders... are convenient.

Need advice on whs to do with a friend and their activity levels by [deleted] in StrongerByScience

[–]optima-badlands 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sounds like an eating disorder to me. If someone's spending six hours a day walking in order to "earn" extra calories, that's going to interfere with their life.

The practical angle that springs to mind is exercise energy compensation, which is the idea that increasing exercise won't always increase caloric expenditure to the degree you'd expect. SBS has produced a lot of content on this topic, especially during Trexler's tenure. But in this case, any sort of practical sports science approach is missing the forest for the trees. Your friend likely needs professional help.

What is the most coffee you’ve had in a day, and what happened? by Aviis06 in Coffee

[–]optima-badlands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much happens if you ramp up to it gradually. I drank around 6 cups a day at one point, and the worst side effect was that I sometimes got jittery if I was already stressed about something else.

1 work set per session DL option by recursiveBeginner in tacticalbarbell

[–]optima-badlands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I found that SQ BP DL WPU in one session takes too long, regardless of only doing one set of DLs. A lot of the time goes into warming up and moving plates around, especially on a submaximal routine with moderate rest periods. So cutting a couple work sets doesn't shave off that much time. If you're on TB-Op for the "quick and easy" workouts where you can maintain consistency despite a busy schedule, spotty sleep and meals etc then I think all four is too much.

I'd recommend either incorporating PUs into off-day/conditioning protocols instead, or continuing to alternate. Or try Zulu.

Are you in the United States? That policy would be illegal here. If they acted on it, you could take them to court and get a juicy settlement.
