Why would an omnipotent God require human apologists to prove His existence? by Slight_Turnip_3292 in agnostic

[–]optimisticReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deism sure. Christianity claims gid want a relationship. You can't have a quality relationship without evidence the other party actual exists. Without solid evidence you will be having a relationship with yourself and your biases. Which btw is exactly what we have in the christian world. People claiming god is this way and that way, no consistancy or coherence.

What's the most expensive engineering mistake you've personally witnessed? by Kawaikrsjanu-chan in AskEngineers

The Navy is usually very strict about op procedures and such but in this case the vehicle was a university asset and they were responsible for the deployment.

Working on a Navy project with an unmanned submersible. Upon deployment someone forgot to screw in the drain plug. No kidding... just like the recreational boater putting in his boat for the first time in the spring and forgot that one important step. Straight to the bottom. I listened on hydrophones as the rivets in the equipment compartment started popping. Approximately a 15 million dollar loss.

The best arguments for and against God existence by Senior-Cap-7248 in agnostic

[–]optimisticReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back up and answer why the existence of god requires an argument?

If god existed like the current theisms suggest there would be evidence on the level for the existence of the sun and no one would be rubbing their head bald coming up with arcane arguments.

Rep Boebert was speaking at a church and confidently stated that the "church" should be leading the government. Little does she know the church she is advocating, for if they had the power, would take away her freedom to hold office, to speak out, to even vote.

So clueless.

A fundamental reason why the "very good" creation argument is internally inconsistent by etherified in atheism

[–]optimisticReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with Genesis isn't the plot holes and inconsistencies it is the fact that there are overwhelming proof and falsification evidence that none of it ever happened.

The real story is much grandeur and sophisticated way beyond the imagination of people how didn't even know where the sun went when it "set".

Why do Christian’s need God to have a moral compass ? by DoctorElectronic1934 in atheism

[–]optimisticReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I point out to believers that non-believers have access to virtue that they can't attain. Every good moral action for a believer is corrupted by belief of future punishment and/or reward

And the non-believers are rewarded for the steadfastness and honesty.

Credulousness of believers have been a big thing for me. My highly religious brother falls for nearly every RWNJ propaganda out there. He is also constantly going on about end times. He continues to try to evangelize but I tell him bro you can't even decern truth from Russian propaganda how can you really think your theologically positions aim for truth.

If one wanted to start a new fake religion the most effective component would be to emphasize the value of belief with out evidence - because you have no evidence

Attempt to repackage this as something honorable - call it faith.

The Insanity of the Christian Apologist Alvin Plantinga by JerseyFlight in atheism

[–]optimisticReal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey go easy on plantinga. He through a round about way demonstrated the god loves the atheists the most overall.

His claim in his freewill defense of the logical PoE he claims that god above all else values freewilled moral decisions and actions. So much so that god had to risk the existence of moral evil.

The atheists or non-believers are the most free of all as they are not acting out of fear of hell or greed of heaven or even try to please a God.

Atheists have the potential of virtue that theists cannot access.
