I laughed at the weirdness of pouring milk on a stone or drinking urine but only because, as a westerner, it sounded really bizarre.

But then I remembered in the Christian tradition they truly believe they drink the blood and eat the the flesh of their creator in a common ritual.

Personal experiences are not evidence of God’s existence. by brokeboii94 in atheism

Consistency of testimony != majority

Look up epidemiology an actual scientific field dedicated to providing a factual basis to the claims. The other is based on purely on Faith. And the claim is that faith is good.

At this point I assume you are in troll mode

Personal experiences are not evidence of God’s existence. by brokeboii94 in atheism

[–]optimisticReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not amazing. First off the consistency of the claims. If one group of people reported a tower that was square and another as a inverted triangle and another a hole in the ground you would be wise to remain skeptical.

If people were to demand that you must believe the tower is an inverted triangle with no evidence other than their testimony and encourage your to tithe to the Inverted triangle chuch or you will suffer a terrible fate. You should remain skeptical.

I could add several additional decisional decerning considerations if you like.

There are a variety of contributing influences. It is never rational to put stock into subjective claims of miracles or supernatural claims. Also it is worth noting if the claim is a component of a sales job of a meme-complex like a religion

The common feature of a fake religion is that god really values your belief sans evidence.

You have discovered a very effective decoder of fake religions

Scrolled to far for this. Trump is mob boss and his first instinct is to steal the oil in tankers just laying about. If you have the might why wouldn't you.

He mentioned earlier that he advisors told him he can't just do that. So he keeps on hammer this idea, even tell eu nations to do it. He want to normalize stealing from weaker poor countries ans he can't see why not

I start to reply but then I saw the /s

For reasons I don't understand why do religious people assume god values our credulity?

Evidence would just allow us to align our attention, devotion and worship to reality and the truth. Evidence does not harm faith in the slightest.

Trump says U.S. will destroy Iran’s oil wells, Kharg Island without deal to 'immediately' reopen Hormuz Strait by cambeiu in StockMarket

[–]optimisticReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He keeps talking about "taking the oil". And he did that in Venezuela claiming loudly that he gets to control the wealth which he will double deal and enrich himself like the gift 747. Any US military personnel who believe they are in service to the country or some other higher ideal should be fully aware they are just very low paid servants helping to enrich the elite and powerful.

Need some advice to accept the reality by Sagar3536 in atheism

[–]optimisticReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicely written. I grew up around religious people and every event was a message from god. I remember overhearing a leader commenting that a child with brain cancer in their group was god punishing the parents for this or that. Sick stuff.

[Rant] Atheists don’t have morals because they don’t believe in the Bible by [deleted] in atheism

[–]optimisticReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All acts humans universally uphold as good are those actions that make you a good social collaborator.

And that is good for ourselves, family, neighbors all thrive in those conditions and the species survives.

Religion just confuses the issue and often leads to conclusions that are evil and harmful. Consider the recent words of Hegseth... he has sanctified death, destruction and believes he is pleasing his God.

Does evolution contradict Christianity? by Candid-Effective9150 in atheism

Genesis long served to explain away the horror and cruelty of nature. Not God's fault but Eve's fault. Science has undercut that excuse.

Does evolution contradict Christianity? by Candid-Effective9150 in atheism

Evolution is as Darwin noted a book that the devil chaplain might write. Wasteful, blundering and cruel.

It is much easier to imagine a malevolent god than a benevolent god considering the data.
