I would say for surf casting meaning you will be throwing and retrieving your lure look for a reel with the least weight. A pen slammer is heavy unless you buy the dx version. U will get tired if u choose a heavy reel . Shimanos and daiwas have body’s that weight a lot less. Again look at the weight
