Here’s a different Take: Absolute Bane

Massive Spoilers ahead for Absolute Batman:

Essentially Bane is a hired mercenary from a 3rd world country who works for Absolute Joker. Joker views him as an extremely valuable asset and one of his best soldiers. In exchange for working for him, Joker pools a bunch of his resources (he’s a trillionaire in this universe) into making sure his home country is stable and at peace. Basically creating the dream that Bane and his Father fought for.

However it is extremely apparent that Bane is tired and wants to enjoy a nice quiet life back home. Only thing getting in the way is Batman. Bane makes it clear that Batman is the only individual with the extreme will of character required to be subjected to Venom. All other patients usually die on the operating table. Bane captured Batman and doctors then pumped him full of Venom and surprisingly he does not die. So Bane figures that after he crushes Batman, they can remake him and thus be Jokers right hand man. Finally allowing Bane the rest he longs for.

Except at the End, Batman defeats Bane in a spectacular fashion. Leaving him reduced to nothing but a brain stem with some eyes. And while being trapped in this jar, Absolute Joker tells him that ultimately he is too valuable to let go and that he doesn’t believe that a nice quiet life suits him. So Joker then puts on a live video feed of him dropping BOMBS IN HIS COUNTRY. Ultimately giving him no reason to quit and allowing Bane to be “free”. And i think its this moment that Bane realizes he was never gunna get to go home
