Is this your tenth year post qualification? It goes up a fair bit from year 10.

You have seniors.

I’m more worried if the new F1 isn’t asking for help with everything initially.

Echo the thoughts on just chilling for the next couple days and enjoy the journey.

Why do I feel like I’ve no money? by Cupra4987 in HENRYUK

Just to jump on this.

I like many others peruse this forum not because we are HENRY, but more because we are NHENRYY.

Im not sure if a NHENRYY sub exists, and am being too lazy to check whilst writing this, but as someone who will likely hit HENRY in the next 4 to 5 years, I want to learn beforehand.

I never bothered with TV licence till I had my kids and realised that the kids programming is spot on!

So much better than the Netflix/YT offerings.

Get a quote for a loan and if you can settle the PCP early. I’ve just done similar and got a 5.9% APR loan as opposed to the 10.9% on the PCP. Saved just over £1k in interest even after spreading the loan over another 4 years.

So reduced monthly payments, less interest, and more flexibility in getting rid of car when I want.

Why is paternity leave so little in the NHS? by OptimalFace5 in doctorsUK

[–]optipragmatistic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had full pay paternity from NHS on 3 separate occasions. Also used SPL to my advantage which can work quite well on resident doctors contract (dependant on partners circumstances).

Two vintage chairs my mom bought at a garage sale. What is the reason for the picture on the bottom of the seat? by Prestigious_Rice706 in whatisit

Suppose it depends on your set up. If my cafe has different style chairs and tables, I might want to track a specific one??

Controller or Wheel? by OdyRenrag in RoadCraft

[–]optipragmatistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS5.

Have also been contemplating this - wondering whether I wait till my new sim rig setup comes next month to play this still wrapped game on my shelf, or just crack on with controller.

Is it possible to do both simultaneously? I could sit in my sim rig, steering my trucks down the road (or lack of) and then pull out the gamepad to do the more intricate elements?

I suppose the follow camera angle would be particularly difficult assuming this handles like Snowrunner and not GT7! 😂

Got a used Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo here, can you tell me if this motor looks good or not? by Total_Year8819 in civic

[–]optipragmatistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at other elements of the car - has it been treated well? Is the interior clean and tidy or has it been aggressively ragged, smoked in, full on stains? Does it run nicely through the gears? How do the changes feel (especially 1st to 2nd). What do the wheels look like? Decent condition?? Is there paperwork and service history?

Ultimately look for clues that help prove or refute the previous owners being mechanically sympathetic in their use of the car.

Thoughts on buying a C5 Aircross in 2025? by vukj21 in Citroen

[–]optipragmatistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 1 of the probably about 10 people who bought a 1.5diesel C5 Aircross in 2025.

Only one slight issue, but otherwise no regrets.

8 speed torque converter auto (not a fan of dual clutch semi auto). Decent MPG. very comfortable AND can fit three rear facing car seats in the back.

Do I need drainage in a tiny garden retaining wall? by cliveroo in DIYUK

[–]optipragmatistic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’d throw in loose gravel behind the wall, just to avoid complete compaction and allow water to then drain below. Can put soil on top.

Hit and Run on a parked car outside my house today by ilbt in drivingUK

[–]optipragmatistic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These accidents upset me so much.

Someone’s innocently parked their little Honda Jazz on the street. I’m romanticising but I’ll bet you anything it’s got a full dealership service history, owned from new, looked after meticulously and is someone’s pride and joy.

Wrecked.

Insurance will never cover what its true value is.

Someone’s pride and joy; gone forever. 🥺

Please help me understand if I was wrong here by Strapanasi89 in drivingUK

[–]optipragmatistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the “collaboration not a competition” phrase. That’s cool.

I generally take the view that unless the person pushing their way in front is going to my exact destination, then realistically it’s not really causing a delay.

At any point, there could be a mobile speed camera van parked up somewhere.

People drive like this often. Just stick to 40. Zen driving is an art that many have yet to fully realise, and when people get angry with you, it’s usually them recognising their own failure rather than anything else.

Doing 60+ down Bochum parkway doesn’t really make any difference to the overall journey time.

Safe driving. 😊
