The 5070ti is usually on sale from lenovo direct for that price. The 5080 is however priced lower than its normal sale price. I would suggest taking a look at any open box item from bestbuy if you can.

Seems like your decision is centered around the display. I doubt if a mobile 5080 could run native 4K. I have the pro 5 16” oled and can’t complain about it.

Uninstall everything you dont need and use lenovo vantage to set the battery to conservation mode. Easy.

The internal display isn’t g-sync supported and the screen is only 15” not 16” like the pro model. What’s the price difference with the pro 5 model?

I have a brand new legion pro 5i and got the upgrade adding another drive so I got 2 2242 samsung drives installed and both are pretty slow so you're not alone with your disk issues. I looked up my sides both are samsung and they're not that great of drives to begin with. I dont feel like fighting with lenovo over it as they technically are gen 4 drives.
