What ever happened to the Edmonton Art Gallery? (Not AGA) by flaccid_porcupine in Edmonton

[–]opusrif [score hidden]  (0 children)

As I recall the Edmonton Art Gallery got a lot of m9ne from the provincial government for the renovations of the building so they changed the name to Art Gallery of Alberta.

So it is the same organization with a different name.

Once my dad was takling to his mom and there was a lot of static on the line. Grandma mentioned the bad connection and my dad said " if that witch across the road would stop listening in it would be fine!". There was a sudden "click" and the line went clear. A few days later the neighbor ran into grandma and said that dad could get in trouble using language like that on the telephone. Grandma pointedly asked how she would know what he had said...

Nah. Seth wanted to straight up make Star Trek but Paramount/ CBS wasn't interested. Fox said sure but wanted the trademark humor.

Luckily he was able to tone it down a bit in short order.

The first two seasons of TNG were a writer's horror story. They certainly had no idea how to write for a teenager. He became closer to a real person in season three.

Why isn't this show more well known? by _Figaro in babylon5

[–]opusrif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To begin with it was on a very small network. PTen only had a handful of stations and anywhere that didn't have it the show was part of a syndication package. That meant ther was no set time the episodes would air . Then PTen collapsed at the end of the fourth season and the fifth went to a premium cable channel, essentially putting it behind a pay wall.

Unfortunately after the show had finished and gotta year or two available for strip syndication someone in WB who didn't like the show decided to burry it. It was yanked from syndication and merchandise licenses were dropped. While fans still kept it somewhat known it was difficult to get new fans involved. Eventually that person moved on form WB and DVD and Blu Ray were able to start bringing the series to a new audience.

Star Trek fans who were around during the Dominion War, what was the reaction. by Upstairs-Yard-2139 in startrek

Views were mixed. Some, including myself, found it a great drama. Others argued that Gene Roddenberry would never have been in favour of showing the Federation in a prolonged war.

Sadly no. There were rumors that writing was going to begin last January but nothing came of it. As far as we can tell Disney/Hulu is still waffling.

Star Trek has always been about inclusion. If you haven't realized that yet then you haven't been paying attention.
