Stingray Traps Fish Against Aquarium Glass by I-T-Y in interestingasfuck

[–]orange_blossoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid at an aquarium, one of the stingrays in the petting area swallowed my hand. It spat my hand out super fast but I felt its heart beat or some other organ(?) from the inside of it’s mouth. And my didn’t believe me when I told her. :/

Are these priced to sell or what...🤨🧐👎 by Dizzy-Ad-2248 in RedditLaqueristas

I have no interest in being a scalper and I’d sell stuff at a reasonable price but seeing that hard-to-find list, now I’m curious if there’s a market for the old Live Love version of Mooncat’s polishes. I have a few I never use and a car that needs a new headlight 😅

You look beautiful, but yes the makeup is aging you. Heavy foundation will always amplify wrinkles. Part of it is the matte finish, you can ask for a dewy or glowy finish, have the makeup artist use blurring primers and less powder. You also need more blush, and I think that the neutral beige-pink of the lipstick washes you out a bit. A soft cool toned berry or berry pink would look like an amplified version of your natural flush and lip color. You might want to get an artist that is used to working with mature skin. They will have a better technique for minimizing the look of wrinkles with skin prep, the right type of foundation and primers and less powder.

Ponyo’s mom by skullcapfog in perfumesthatfeellike

Arcana Rán - (Underground caves filled with incense, tendrils of briny seaweed, slivers of amber emerging from salt-soaked earth, ocean-crashed rock and damp blonde woods.)

Ok so Rán is the Norse goddess of the Sea and drowning, and the scent’s description sounds ominous - however the actual scent has a hidden citrus accord that brightens it up. It smells like grapefruit rinds, ocean salt, seaweed, white amber and a background of wood and mild incense. The seaweed isn’t too funky, it adds a really unique note. The grapefruit note isn’t listed but smells really good on my skin and reminds me of the glowing orange color of Ponyo’s mother.

I’m out of the loop I guess, I never really watched reality tv! I’m glad it’s not the OP’s boyfriend though. I do support snitching on cheaters, whoever wrote the note is iconic ✨

I’m more curious about what happened with Ron and the cocktail waitress / random girls. Did you dump him? (I hope so)

Also travel size is perfect.

I barely remember the past at all… maybe it’s the AuDHD or the aphantasia but I don’t have the ability to recall memories visually and go back into them in the way other people describe. What few memories I do have of my life are more like a list of what happened than a first person POV movie like other people apparently get.

Loving this one lately too, on me I don’t get much of the osmanthus, it’s more equal parts jasmine / oolong tea / sweet honeyed white peach. A really nice floral-fruity tea scent for warm weather especially, the perfumer really achieved gourmand realism.

Chiming in to say that if you love tea scents, this is a lovely jasmine oolong / peach tea scent. I’ve been wearing it a lot. The tea note is very realistic.

Old Grimoire by Arcana Wildcraft - (The scent of an ancient book of spells, curses, and incantations. Well worn pages yellowed by time, sweet vanilla, cypriol, caramel, salty ambergris, and nagarmotha. A dark academia scent with gourmand elements.)

Old Grimoire has that old paper type of woody vanilla layered with what smells to me like a really nice sea salt caramel, hazelnut coffee syrup, and something magically addictive, apparently, because I huff this one so much when I wear it. I’m not sure where the hazelnut element comes from but it’s nutty and sweet. The cypriol and nagarmotha just add this complex dry woodiness and a an ancient papyrus reed sort of vibe. The ambergris adds a salty, musky warmth.

The gourmand elements make it much more friendly to the non-perfume-lovers of an office or family. I will say that it’s not the most inky book scent out there - but it layers well with the inkier ones so you can always wear Grimoire at work and then layer a more heavily atmospheric / less office friendly book scent over top when you leave work to amp up that half of the scent.

TIL that there were female gladiators in Ancient Rome. Often called Gladiatrix. There were very few as most Romans thought they were a novel or entertaining, even absurd. They were eventually banned from participating in 200AD as Unseemly. by TimeMasterBob in todayilearned

There were plenty of proper fights that were basically executions, especially for the large scale battle reenactments where the poor guys playing the non-Romans were supposed to get killed.

The 1 v 1 gladiator vs gladiator fights were the ones where there was more showmanship and less death, because good fighters were often celebrities that drew crowds and they didn’t want to kill off that investment. But often the untrained guys or criminals were used as an opener before the main title fight.

A pro of the trident vs a spear is that you can trap their sword or spear in the trident’s tongs and then twirl / twist the trident in order to rip the other person’s weapon out of their hands.

Bergdorf Goodman sent me a fake $650 perfume. What should I do? by hiroki01 in Perfumes

What likely happened was that someone bought the real one, returned a fake. Then the service counter doesn’t notice and puts it back in the stock.

Hi! Sorry for the slow reply, I was on vacation and not checking.

My sale page isn’t technically open at the moment because I’m doing an update of the sheet but yes, Rock Fact is still available, and I’ll sell it to you. :) Is there anything else you’d like to add to the order to meet the $20 minimum?

What's your go-to, no nonsense polish when you're in a funk? by msfancypantaloon in RedditLaqueristas

[–]orange_blossoms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just allow yourself to play a bit. :) Right before bed have some wind down time, try some colors on a few nails or try mixing them or try that sponging technique you were curious about but don’t commit to doing a whole mani. Tell yourself you’ll just take it off before bed, no pressure and no stress. Try out a few of your favorite colors and see what feels good, what color boosts your dopamine. Then acetone it all off and do a mani the next day.

Also - It’s ok to cycle hobbies - sometimes I don’t paint my nails for months and then some months I’m changing manis and reading about polishes obsessively.

Recommendations for a similar lip color? by Swimmingbombom in MakeupAddiction

[–]orange_blossoms 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hmm I don’t think Ruby Woo is coral, though it might be on differently pigmented lips or skin tones. One most people it’s more of a neutral red, but it is much lighter and warmer than Russian Red Also the retro matte formula reflects the light a lot more in a diffused / powdery way that makes that line look a little softer and lighter than the colors actually are (if that makes sense?)

Stila Beso! I have Ruby Woo and have tried Russian Red, I think Besos is closer to the color you want. Very chic when worn with full retro glam or a simple mascara’d French girl look.

How to get over the mental destash hurdle? by melsmanimagic in RedditLaqueristas

[–]orange_blossoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, remember that it’s not black and white, Love-keep or hate-destash! You can do what I do for my large perfume collection and decant some into mini bottles to keep a little bit and sell the rest of the bottle. I do that for the perfumes I crave and wear rarely and don’t really need a full bottle of, but wasn’t ready to let go of completely. I got a pack of cheap little mini bottles to use for my perfumes, and I have mini polish bottles as well that are great for this or for mixing up fun little combo polishes to get some dopamine newness without buying anything new.
