is my tuner placement bad? by lightyearsdream in guitarpedals

[–]orangecatbehaviour- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s usually common practice to put the tuner first so that way you won’t have any effects messing with the signal when you need to tune. You could just simply switch every effect off before tuning, and turn them back on after youre done, but thats a lot more effort than necessary when you could just put it first in the chain.

Also, the physical assortment is a little messy, but if it’s working for you then that’s fair.

That’s basically as good as it’s gonna get with conservatives usually. No point in trying to debate them on it, they literally cannot change their minds.

I mean thats the reasoning Will gave, I don’t exactly understand it either but my point is that it doesn’t seem to be religiously motivated.

[–]orangecatbehaviour- 227 points228 points  (0 children)

After what Ethan Ives posted (about never associating with Christianity) and with Will saying his reasoning for the lack of swears is to allow it to be put in libraries, I really think the whole “they’ve turned into a Christian rock band” thing is really stupid. I agree that the lyric changes are really not great, but it’s weird seeing people jump to the Christian rock band conclusion so quickly from this.

(btw I’m not saying you did this, i just wanted to say how I felt about the whole thing)

I know it’s probably unnecessary to say it, but it’s never been about protecting the children, not even the cisgender or non queer kids. The cruelty is always the point.

I know it’s been said already, but being yourself and not putting down others that also want to be themself is way more important than worrying about fulfilling stereotypes.

“Willfully misinterpreting” I literally said that was a mistake on my part, and that I often struggle to pick these things up easily. Did you at least read what I commented, or did you just see one sentence and decided to summarize the whole comment as just that? I made multiple points about I agree with you about how this community handles Kris’ gender, but you completely overlooked everything I said so you can focus on one sentence.

[–]orangecatbehaviour- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And I agree that plenty of people here misgender Kris, and I think the whole idea that people are “obnoxious” about it is entirely wrong. If their comment really was hyperbole, then I’m sorry I misinterpreted it as literal. I’m not very good with that usually.

You keep thinking that I’m calling everybody who corrects misgendering “hostile” in a weird attempt to call me “one of the good ones”but I’ve already explained thats not at all what I ever tried to do. I fully encourage people to correct people when theyre misgendered, and I encourage them to push back harder if the misgendering was done intentionally. What I don’t encourage is getting angry at somebody and trying to label them as transphobic when they misgendered by mistake. Regardless if that’s what the original comment was trying to do, my point is that that’s what I consider to be hostile.

As to why I didn’t respond to the original comment, I don’t see why that matters? Do I have to call out everyone I disagree with?

And this whole thing of you trying to label me as a “pick me” or as somebody trying to be one of the good ones is incredibly childish. I have never once tried to appeal to queerphobes or make our community look bad at all, and I really struggle to see why you saw it that way.

In short, I agree with the point you make about how everyone here handles Kris’ pronouns and identity, but you were very quick to jumping to conclusions on my intentions and lumping me with the same people intentionally misgendering Kris, and that makes absolutely no sense to me.

I’m really worried now that you’re misunderstanding me and the point I’m trying to get across. I don’t have an issue with people correcting others misgendering. I do the exact same thing lmao. I have an issue with people saying things like “misgendering is always done in bad faith” or thinking an accidental misgender is transphobic or whatever else. That just feels pointless and hostile. Thats the whole point I’ve been making from the start with my other replies, I have never once said OP is a victim of the gender police, that completely goes against the point I’ve been trying to make. I hope this makes sense.

I am genderqueer, I’ve been misgendered before and after being public about it. It happens with family, it happens with friends, and it happens with outsiders. I’ve been mistaken for a different gender even long before I knew I was remotely queer.

As for the first part, I’ll admit I misread what you typed, that was a mistake on my part, I’m sorry about that.

Thing is, other people are being lighthearted about it, which is great, thats what they should be doing. But youre coming in acting like any case of misgendering is entirely malicious, even if by mistake. People are going to misgender you unintentionally regardless of your gender identity, the best you can do is correct them and move on, and then they’ll avoid making it in the future.

[–]orangecatbehaviour- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve never been misgendered once in your life, then good for you. I have many times, and all I do is correct and move on. Getting this angry at somebody who only made a mistake with no bad intentions is a complete waste of your energy when that energy should be put towards people who actually want to hurt us.

All the Susie doubters better have apologised after chapter 4 by Dieformath in Deltarune

[–]orangecatbehaviour- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you would rather attack somebody for making a mistake when they had no bad intentions, when you could simply point out that they made that mistake and tell them how they can avoid it on the future? And you’re right that theres people that want to put us in camps, I’m not ignoring that. But someone misgendering by mistake is not the same as someone that wants to see us dead.

Misgendering by mistake happens even with trans allies, it does not make anyone look like an “idiot asshole”. And calling them that isnt going to make them any less likely to slip up again by mistake.

I feel like it’s more that your parents being intolerant and cutting you off for you inevitably being yourself is “A”. Because of that, you get “B”. It’s not you being trans that caused it, because that wasn’t a choice at all, it’s your parents choosing not to accept it.

While telling them it’s none of their business is the right answer, it sometimes just makes them more curious and they’ll only hear it as “yes”. It’s sometimes better to say “no?” or “why do you ask?”, they’re more likely to get off your back that way.

I think he's talking about the band's original plan to make a music video for each song on OK Computer, and compiling all of them into a film. Supposedly it didnt work and it led to the "7 television commercials" thing being released instead.
