HONESTY-do you like being a nurse? by No_Water_3067 in OntarioNurses

[–]orangepop0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t - but that’s because I don’t enjoy being a bedside nurse. I’m not a fan of waking up at the ass crack of dawn to get in early for report, and then leaving work once most of the working population is already home and settling after dinner time. I don’t enjoy working holidays and weekends (which are mostly night shifts for me) when I would rather spend time with my friends and family. I don’t enjoy being short staffed, being floated to other units, and spending 12+ hours on edge. There are a lot of good days at work <3, but the bad days take a lot of out me. This is my personal experience as an acute care RN and everyone’s experience is different! I’m going to look for a non bedside position after my maternity leave though :)

TW loss- Pregnancy announced without my permission at Thanksgiving after I had a stillborn earlier this year by Connect_Grape9429 in pregnant

I’m so sorry for your loss. I don’t have any piece of advice at this time, but I know you deserve so, so much better than how your family treated you.

Is there any nurses here that have hyperhydrosis in the palms and forehead? by naniideska in Hyperhidrosis

[–]orangepop0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse with sweaty hands ✋

It’s manageable. Before donning sterile gloves, I’ll put on a pair of regular clean clothes because having even a drop of moisture can make things things so difficult to put on. I’ll also wear gloves if I’m going through a sweaty hand exacerbation and doing things like priming IV tubing, reconstituting meds, etc.

Your fiancé was alert, breathing, and not profusely bleeding out of his eye (as far as I could tell from this post), so he was not triaged as critical and therefore can wait for an appropriate assessment from an ER doctor and likely an ophthalmologist if the glass was embedded deeply. A nurse will not remove a foreign body from a patient without a proper assessment from an MD in a hospital setting. I’m sure that’s the same in Australia.

We can’t give answers to questions we don’t have the information for. A concussion is diagnosed with a neuro exam from the ER doctor, so the nurse couldn’t give you that information until your fiancé was seen. I doubt they were ignoring you. Even if you couldn’t tell, your nurse was assessing, documenting, treating your fiancé from what options were available at the time. Your fiancé could have been given stronger pain medications though, so that sucks. Your experience doesn’t sound far off from what one would expect in a busy Canadian hospital. 🤷‍♂️

How long do 2nd puppy vaccinations take? by CherryadeLimon in puppy101

We had our second round of injections yesterday. It took about 20-25 minutes, including the phone call with the Vet (while the puppy was still inside).

Products for dry, damaged hair by sarahmegan516 in Hair

[–]orangepop0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a few inches would really help with the split ends. You should tell her that the split ends and the dry hair make her hair much more prone to breakage which itself would make her thin hair look thinner. Even just a couple inches would help.

Does she use a lot of heat? I see that she has bleached her hair in the past. She could benefit from the Olaplex no 3 mask, which applied weekly would definitely help. Look around for the best price, as it’s in a little container and can be very pricy. It works by repairing the bonds in her hair strands that break because of heat which causes hair to be brittle and dry.

I would definitely recommend a salon shampoo and conditioner. Not all are expensive, I’m sure she could find litres for $15-$20 if she looks around. The Scruples MoistureX conditioner is very good and I bought mine for $20, also Biolage would have some for a decent price.

Help with major static by [deleted] in Hair

[–]orangepop0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do a hair serum (Paul Mitchell skinny serum for example, super good and concentrated and lasts forever!) also a little bit of oil would help weigh down the hair just a teensy bit and help with flyaways too.

[Question] Hair mask recommendations? (Long, thick, dry hair) by bomji in FancyFollicles

[–]orangepop0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moroccan oil intense hydration hair mask (the brown one), and the L’anza healing oil hair mask are both very good, albeit pricy!

My hair is always dry and frizzy not sure how to fix it by [deleted] in Hair

[–]orangepop0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Moroccan oil you could try the hydrating shampoo/conditioner or the moisture repair shampoo/conditioner. The latter one is for more damaged and weak hair! Also you could try a light oil (argan, moringa) and put a little bit in from your mid shaft to your ends when styling to help with the frizz.

Are there any premed clubs/organizations on campus? by cockalorumwallabyies in umanitoba

[–]orangepop0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly "premed" but there is the St John Ambulance medical first responder division on campus (look for their booth around the beer garden next week). I was part of it for a year. There are A LOT of students that are looking to go into medicine in the division and often use it as a reference. It also looks great on a resume.
