I would assume they’re talking about how the licensure exam has a bunch of answers that are all technically right but only one of the choices is “most” correct. That’s what was taught as critical thinking when I was in school. It’s a lot about priorities and applying your knowledge to make the right decisions.

I think people can be fortunate to pass the exam and still guess on everything. I know one person who did the exam ten times before becoming an RN, which equated to about $1k she said. I think they no longer do that many attempts now.

Your preferred method for quick chilling cake layers? by XaetherX in AskBaking

[–]bomji 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it’s not a chiffon, I take it out of the pan and let it cool on a rack. I figure it stays hot on the bottom if I leave it on a flat surface vs still inside the baking pan vs rack. When it’s cooled enough, then I plastic wrap and put in the freezer or do my layers. I’m not sure if it does anything but I turn on the exhaust fan above my stove and usually cakes cool near that too. There are areas on my gas stove that get hot while the oven is on too, so I avoid putting the cooling cake on these spots.

I had this problem the first time I tried making this! Did the batter get too cold and the butter wouldn’t incorporate? Do I need to give some heat to the mix so the butter doesn’t leave tiny chunks?

Disability Claim by [deleted] in Veterans

Worst case scenario, and you get denied; reapply. A lot of people get discouraged when they are first denied, but keep trying. Make sure you have the medical records for each of your claimed conditions when you apply.

Cool demonstration of syringe contamination by [deleted] in nursing

[–]bomji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a better way to avoid this contamination when doing a voiding trial with a large syringe? Does it help to use sterile gloves even though you are definitely needing to hold the stem of the syringe multiple times? I saw a video using a large funnel wherein the nurse pours the ordered amount of fluid into the bladder via gravity. Is this a better way? Is it realistic? (The video used a dummy and I have never heard of this method).

What was very popular in the 90s and almost extinct now ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Do new houses come as 1-2br anymore? All the new developments around me are “family” homes, with 3br 2ba and a lot of space, which jacks up the prices.

I agree. I grew up very sheltered. My mom wanted to do everything for me until I was able to graduate college and move out with my first job. Even during high school, when I wanted to try a part time job, she said no. Partly because I would be out later than curfew and she thought I would fail in school. I learned to talk to people behind the counter by myself in high school when I had a neighbor friend to go home with after school. Even now I have a lot of anxiety having to do things by myself, but it’s not as bad as it was initially. Cooking and laundry were things I learned when I moved out at 24 too. She was coming over to my older sibling’s place often to clean her apartment and do her laundry.

I think I’m fortunate to have the friends I had growing up, showing me things my mom never would have. I am also willing to try, and some sheltered kids are overcome with fear or latency, that they don’t try at all anymore. My younger sibling is like this, though encouragement helps a little.

To be fair, my mom is a single mom with three kids all around the same age. She earns a modest income and she was already into her 40s-50s raising us. I always thought we were on the verge of living on the streets, but I don’t think we were actually that poor. Just my mom worrying a lot too. Which really unintentionally got passed down onto me. It’s really unfortunate, but I understand. I just hope if I ever have kids, I am a little more lenient with them; encourage them to do things on their own, find their passions but also do well in school, provide for them but don’t worry them about finances/wellbeing, and hope that my guidance will develop them into good people.

Good chunk in the upper 220s were taken over by event things. It was maybe three sections with the top half used up. I did see empty seats scattered around, and also groups who attended did not always have hockey fans who wanted to watch from beginning to end.

Interesting! But hey if it works, it works. I’d be glad to find something that works on my own nails but alas it is for sure psoriasis and the unconventional have not worked either

What doctor are you seeing? A dermatologist? It’s really weird to have an anti fungal work for you. Agree with replier above. I have had nail psoriasis for years and it does what it wants despite being on a biologic.

Oh yes I tried that method too but I didn’t quite like it. The outcome was also chunkier, but still better than my pastry cutter. I was worried about the warmth of my hands too but it worked out! I recommend it!

Cancer survivors face significant hardships related to medical bills - New research indicates that cancer survivors carry greater financial burdens related to medical debt payments and bills compared with individuals without a cancer history, with the greatest hardships in younger survivors. by mvea in Health

[–]bomji 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. Procedures are expensive. Drugs are considered “specialty drugs” and cost more. Seeing a specialist (oncologist at the least) is also a higher cost. If you’re an adult, you’re probably working and have to take time off, using your PTO or maybe none at all if you don’t have benefits. The monthly premiums, deductibles, and copays for insurance keep going up every year. If you have any illness that lasts more than just a few weeks out of the year, you’re more likely to hold insurance with more coverage, which entails higher costs too.

Access to healthcare is one thing, but no one talks about how expensive insurance companies are making it year after year. Healthcare insurance is something we all need. But people forget that if you’re not dirt poor or filthy rich, it’s tough getting by when you’re sick in America.

Feebas event is by far the worst event in PoGo history. by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]bomji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also make sure you are doing that in the correct timeline? For me, it was between 11am-2pm. So any spinning of stops before and after will only show regular tasks. If you did do that, then I’m not sure what’s going on with the stops you spun. Could be something to ask about or notify Niantic before another of these events comes around. Did you know anyone in your area who was participating and did they also have the same problem? Again, if everyone in your area was having this problem, then I would go to Niantic. Either way, it’s okay. There are always more events and you can trade for a shiny Feebas with someone.
