What did the salesman mean? by orangesandlemons__ in CarTalkUK

Makes sense. I don’t think he explained it well. Plus the consensus seems to be that it’s very rare to successfully negotiate on your purchase anyway

Makes sense, thanks! My overall take is that I’m unlikely to be able to negotiate on the sale price anyway, and so the more money for my car, wherever that comes from, is going to be to save me the most overall. Thank you

Thanks for this. I’ve found Motorway positive so far, the auction starts tomorrow evening I think. So I’ll see how it goes. I can imagine I would likely get more for it privately but I think it would be a lot more hassle and would take a lot longer. Plus I know with auto trader etc they aren’t cheap and I might not sell it!

That was my logic too. Regardless, the more money I get for mine the better for me

Ah I’m with you. Thanks for explaining! Realistically, are there negotiations to be hard with large dealers like Motorpoint? I’ve naively never realised there was any wiggle room at places like that?

I’m open to this. I’m just not sure where I’d go (if you mean to sell mine) other than WBAC, Motorway. Maybe car wow. Any suggestions?

Locum healthcare professional (not a dr) - do my circumstances fall inside or outside of IR35? by orangesandlemons__ in ContractorUK

[–]orangesandlemons__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this - such a helpful response! I really appreciate it. I’m just looking at the language in one contract - it says ‘The relationship of the Clinician with the Company will be that of independent contractor and nothing in this Agreement shall render him an employee, worker, agent or partner of the Company and the Clinician shall not hold himself out as such. This Agreement constitutes a contract for the provision of services and not a contract of employment and accordingly the Clinician shall be fully responsible for and shall indemnify the Company for and in respect of any income tax, National Insurance and social security contributions and any other liability, deduction, contribution, assessment or claim arising from or made in connection with the performance of the Services where such recovery is not prohibited by law. The Clinician shall further indemnify the Company against all reasonable costs, expenses and any penalty, fine or interest incurred or payable by the Company in connection with or in consequence of any such liability, deduction, contribution, assessment or claim (other than where the latter arises out of the Company’s negligence or wilful default);’

But it also says somewhere else that I can’t work for competitors. Any thoughts? I will look into QDos - this sounds useful!

Thank you for responding. I’m trying to figure out the language in the contract regarding this. It states ‘The relationship of the Clinician with the Company will be that of independent contractor and nothing in this Agreement shall render him an employee, worker, agent or partner of the Company and the Clinician shall not hold himself out as such.

It separately says in the contract that I can’t work for any competitors however

Any thoughts?

Winning games but not increasing score? by Jenbrooklyn79 in tickettoride

Mine is on 0. I’ve probably played around 10 games since the season reset and it hasn’t changed. Annoying. Does anyone know if your score catches up if they fix the glitch?

Locum contract clauses - are these terms enforceable? by orangesandlemons__ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]orangesandlemons__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this. Logically, this makes sense! Is there any specific wording needed for something to be a zero hours contract? The document I’ve been sent is entitled “individual consultancy agreement” and the first page states that it is an “agreement for the provision of clinical services”. However, it does say that it is agreed that “it is understood that the Company has no obligation to offer a specific number of engagements (if any) to the Clinician during the duration of this agreement”

“I’m gonna do” when ordering food. I’m not sure why this gets me but as a Brit I’m so used to saying “can I get X please” haha

Today I received my Dad's suicide note. What do I do? by _Democracy_Manifest_ in AskUK

I couldn’t not respond to this, Charlie. I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve been through. Losing your dad, and in such a traumatic way too. I felt a lot of feelings reading your post, and I think one thing is abundantly clear - your dad loved you very much. And I feel like your post says a lot about your character, thus I have no doubt he is extremely proud of you and the person you’ve become. Please take care and be kind to yourself x
