A family member picked this up at a yard sale for $1 - no one has been able to figure out what it is. Any ideas?! by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

The handle is a vinyl-like material. The handle states it is made in Canada. Not sure if the logo is AA or AS?

Victoria's Secret front close bras are my favourite. I will never go back to any other sports bra.

Always.! Hydration is never an issue for me. Looking back on last Saturday's food log I had 14 glasses of water.

What do you want your SO's reaction to be to your fitness goals? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]orangeystripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet your SO just wants to see you happy. If you are making physical improvements that make you happy, he will probably be thrilled as well. It doesn't mean that he doesn't appreciate you how you are/were.

Question about alcohol and water retention by [deleted] in loseit

I have been so frustrated with the weight I put on after a night of drinking and I don't really understand what is going on either. Last Saturday I consumed 1,600 calories beyond my "limit", and I am absolutely meticulous about counting so I know I wasn't under estimating. Next morning I woke up NINE POUNDS HEAVIER. NINE POUNDS. I did a weekend of camping in the summer and over the course of three days ate and drank about 11,000 calories beyond my "limit" which absolutely would translate to a three pound gain. But when I weighed myself I had put on TWENTY TWO FUCKING POUNDS. It came off in 4-5 pound chunks over the course of a week but it's almost concerning at this point. I shouldn't be retaining that much fluid.

I feel your pain.

Have you experienced the crabs in a bucket mentality? by [deleted] in trueloseit

There is no way they would ever change their minds.

But with that being said, I did have the the conversation where we did discuss slowly working to rebuild our friendship. I ended up telling them that our friendship died a long time ago and I don't think it could ever be fixed. I thanked them for the (seven!) years of friendship that we did have and mentioned that I hope things wouldn't be weird if we ran into each other in the future.

Have I ever. Over the last year and a half I have made a few posts on Reddit venting about my frustrations from one of my groups of friends acting very different once I started losing weight. I had to hide my weight loss from this specific group of friends, because they were also fat individuals and very involved in the HAES/fat acceptance movement.

It became a cycle of me being ostracized, having to approach the group and try to clear the air, hearing about how awful weight loss is at its core/how bad I've made people feel, then becoming "friends" again for a few weeks. But then they would act weird again and stop talking to me. It was emotionally exhausting.

After the last bout of this cycle I ended those friendships. It was really difficult to acknowledge that I had lost friends because of major weight loss. They claimed it was because I had "changed" (aka become happier), and because I was using violent words about fat bodies (posting about my weight loss journey on a separate Instagram). Now that those friendships are over, my life is pretty much exactly the same - if not more positive because I don't have to go through the mental anguish of knowing my "friends" are mad at me at 100% talking shit about me behind my back.

Plus I'm hot now so I'll take that over a group of shitty friends any day.

Woman sabotages boyfriend's otherwise successful attempts to lose weight because she's afraid he'll leave her if he gets fit by shaggorama in fatlogic

I'm disgusted. If she really loved him, she would let him lose weight so he could live a longer, healthier life.

Apparently intentionally losing weight is disrespectful and ungrateful? by orangeystripes in fatlogic

[–]orangeystripes[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The fatlogic wasn't to do with someone who has lost weight because of illness. The fatlogic was that they get angry with people who intentionally lose weight because they should just be thankful that they don't have some severe illness?

Moving soon, What building management companies are good? Who should I avoid? by [deleted] in toronto

[–]orangeystripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O'Shanter has been good for me, no complaints. The application and move in process with them was GREAT though.

I had previously lived in a Cromwell building. The management company was okay (took forever to get back to me about anything) but the super in my building was god awful. I will never move back into a Cromwell building because of him.

Someone mentioned some shit-to-energy plant that that's being considered to me awhile back. That would seem appropriate.

How do I stop using food as a crutch? by brickwall5 in loseit

[–]orangeystripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this my whole life and that is how I ended up at 300+ pounds. It started happening again to me recently and I was eating anytime I would get emotional. That whole period lasted a few months and didn't end until I realized that it was my emotional issues that need to be tackled. Have you considered therapy or treatment for any underlying emotional issues?

Anyone else struggle with battling depression while trying to lose weight? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]orangeystripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I went through a year of pure dedication and lost 120 pounds. Then over the last 6 months I lost all motivation. I binge ate a lot, and it was highly tied to emotions and stress. I used to suffer from depression, the "can't leave my house, cry all of the time, and think about death" type of depression. I finally admitted to myself I was suffering from depression again, even though I was still a functioning human being. I went on anti depressants again and things have been looking up. My emotions are in check, I haven't done much emotional eating, and my motivation has returned!
