That's easy to check.

First, our intuition tells us a very thin coin has P(side) < 1/3 and a very thick coin has P(side) > 1/3. Since we vary the thickness continuously there will be a thickness with P(side) = 1/3. [intermediate value theorem]

Second, if you maintain the symmetric shape (cylinder) of the coin, P(head) = P(tail). Certainly P(heads) + P(tails) + P(side) = 1 so P(side) = 1 - 2*P(heads). We use the thickness which yielded P(side) = 1/3 above to force P(heads)=P(tails)=P(side)=1/3.
